The year is 2076, and mankind has perfected VR technology, using the Chip, an implant that interfaces directly with the human brain, using it like an organic computer. Age of Anarchy Online (AAO) is the newest game released by Icestorm, makers of the legendary World of Destiny (WoD). Unlike VR games before it, AAO promises a 110% 'Better Than Life' realism experience, and to showcase this, Icestorm announces that AAO will have no 'Out of Character' rules, save for actions like hacking or exploiting system errors. Players can do anything to NPCs and even other players, and there will be no consequences save what one may suffer in game. "Do what thou wilt, but it may be done to you in turn." Mike Greene, better known in WoD as Torgan, a max level Paladin and leader of the Lords of Light, one of the top 'light side' guilds in WoD, now sets off on a new adventure in AAO.

Basically the MC has play a paladin for the 16 years decide to vent out all his stress in a new VRMMO game where anything and everything goes.

the social organizations would be a big no but the government would be a yes. There is no law at least currently against this sort of stuff.

oh no no,


real world setting is just Earth 50 year in the future. the game world setting is a fantasy world.



Lord of light is the guild call themselves when role playing paladins. in the game they are top guild and dark guild.

Governments usually act awfully slow and especially for things concerning technology don't do anything till someone important (or media = large chunk of population) starts going crazy. As for the muslim countries, you might be right, but large part of them is undeveloped and has much greater problems than the 10 wealthy nerds that are playing some nasty game.

I would say, that as long as the game is reasonably niche (does not get too much of spotlight) it could actually be largely unregulated by law... for several years at least.

I was a bit curious about what the unusual tags refered to exactly, so I opened a chapter at random (well, not so random, the title was... interesting), and there you go, Minotaur on captive action, and another captive fed sausages that her would-be rescuer contributed to make, if you catch my meaning.

That's quite hardcore, but I'll add it to my pile of things-to-read.

Err, no, causing pain onto others is illegal in pretty much every developed nation. Just because it happened within a video game doesn't really change the fact that the sensations are real. The game would not be allowed to operate in most countries.

But hey, who cares about a little real life in fantasy? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

any real life ver these type of games would probably have settings fro how real you want it, especially for the pain. Max lvl for ppl who enjoy that sort of thing.

That game actually has things like pain reduction, aim assist and so on, but using them come with penalties like reduced critical rate.

I have read the first 30 chapters, and quite like it. I really could have done without the cannibalism stuff, but at least, the MC only get medieval on his enemies, and treat his companions fairly well.

If there is pain reduction (possibly to 0) and you also sign some agreement with it, it might become quite fuzzy. After all, SM play, for example, is legal as long as both parties agree to it.

while some of the game rules are unrealistic. You gotta admit that having a evil MC that actually does evil stuff and not to be pretend evil is a breath of fresh air form.
