What do you read/watch manga/anime for?

I Like to say that I watch anime for it's "value", and not just it's content. Take Higurashi for example. Many people watch it for the violence, and others don't because it's to violent etc... I liked it because of it's value, and story plot as a whole.
Granted I enjoy the small stuff in anime such as the blood and romance, but I more enjoy the story as a whole. I like looking back at the big picture, and not just little incomplete chunks.
(my apologies if this kind of thread has been made, I didn't find any in a search.)

Entertainment. That's pretty much it.

If there's one series that means more to me than just some way to keep myself occupied though it's One Piece. No contest.

- Escapism/entertainment.
- Moe girls.
- Encouragement and relaxation; mostly related to the "moe girls" part. If I'm having a bad day at work, thinking of Kanata or whoever trying her best can inspire me to also try my best.
- Enthusiasm over sakuga, direction, composition, and stuff like that. Or, "just a general interest in animation as a medium."

Because it makes me moist.

Huh, woah excuse me. I couldn't hold that in.

I watch anime because it can bring laughs to my ears and moe to my id. The general abolishment of boundaries also allows for interesting plot and universes.

Beats anything on television anyways. Same god damn thing every day.

I used to think this, until I realized you can watch all the CSPAN programs ever for free online at their website (http://www.c-spanvideo.org/browse).

I watch anime because

1.) I love drawing.
2.) It gives me inspiration in dealing with people ( in exaggerated ways).
3.) I want to study the way they draw their characters and do comparison.
4.) The cute, sexy girls.
5.) Have an anime which l wanted to make a doujinshi when l didn't like the ending or the plot.

In the past it was a form of escapism as well as entertainment (I would be lying if I didn't watch anime for moe girls and gar males in the past), but now it's entertainment much like my main hobby which I've been involved with a lot longer - gaming. Though both has been less entertaining as years go by and it's not necessarily related to quality. I think it's maybe because I'm getting old

Because I just love animation in general. I just have fun with whatever is animated.

This. Not to mention the execution for most of them leaves a lot to be desired. I mean, I normally wouldn't care about medical dramas, but I freaking LOVE House.

I like watching anime for entertainment. I don't get to watch it as often as I'd like, but every now and then I have spare time to squeeze in an episode. It gives me a chance to turn my brain off to thoughts about work and school, and just to enjoy a nice story.

Anime is good for the imagination. It's nice to hang out in fantasy land every once in a while.
