They probably know their seiyuu. They did get Momo Asakura wrong, but that's because they have little to work with due to having only a handful of major roles as a voice actress.
As for the singer making a debut in voice acting, some people speculate that a seventh character would be introduced for that. I hope this isn't some Heine Westenflauss thing.

Kouki Uchiyama is a pro choice. He is needed because we need someone of his caliber to provide a decent male lead in this situation; and his character is gonna be pretty dickish and shit if I'm correct.
I know very little about Ayane Sakura. Thus far, I've seen her as Tsubaki (eww) in Shigatsu and that was nothing for me. There's also Iroha in Oreigaru but nothing too exceptional atm.

She also was in Uchouten Kazoku, another PAW anime. And she's also in Nisekoi: right now. I know her by her role in Tokyo Ravens, though. |

Still, I rarely watch anime I immensely enjoy (this in particular) that had at least one character getting hated left and right due to various circumstances.

Her most oscar bait role is likely being the MC of Hotarubi no Mori e (doing both the younger and older version of the character) and I'd also say Kaisei in Uchouten Kazoku for supporting actress (especially since most of the time we only heard the voice of the character) , my favorite voice type from her is the one she uses for the like of Natsumi in Non Non Biyori and Marii in Joshiraku but doubt we'd get that here.

The first role I really heard Ayane Sakura in was the Kimi no Iru Machi anime adaption as Asuka, but I think I first really noticed her as Suzuka from Tokyo Ravens. Granted, in that role I first mistook her for Ayana Taketatsu, but that in no way is meant as a disservice to her performance as that character which I thought was pretty great, as was her performance as Asuka (and they are two very different characters with very different ranges) .
I don't know why I thought Kouki Uchiyama was likely to be the male lead. Maybe it was that someone else posted the idea on here earlier, but somehow I just had this natural instinct that it would be him. Well, either him or Ryota Osaka . Also cool to have Maaya Uchida in the cast as well. If anyone can pull off a character with split personalities well, I think Uchida is definitely the right choice . I have no doubt that Mizushima can play the role of the comic relief bromantic foil quite well .

Ayane Sakura... first heard her in Dream Eater Merry, but I think she was eclipsed by Kayanon there. Regardless, it was a below average show, so it didn't do much for her.
Hotarubi no Mori E was a good movie, but I didn't take notice of her there. First show I think she carried was Joshiraku. By then I was sick of 'cute girls doing cute things' shows, but I finished Joshiraku due to a combination of its humour, the characters being amusing, and Mari just being plain fun. I honestly thought it was just a fluke back then, as her Merry was still fresh in my mind. IIRC, her character got a lot of sympathy in this forum in KonoImo, but I was gushing over Ishihara's Konoe during that time. On hindsight, Ishihara always seems so two dimensional even then, and that Sakura was the best of the lot back then. The thing that really got my attention though is Kaisei from Uchouten Kazoku. For a character that for the most part was not visible for the entire show, all we had that was going for her was the voice. Sakura knocked it right out of the park, and has since been in my list of my favourite seiyuus. In the English speaking world, I think she's most well known for Vividred Operation MC or Tokyo Ravens' Suzuka Dairenji, and most recently as OreGairu's Iroha. In Japan, I think Shimakaze being like the #1 character of the current #1 otaku franchise is probably her biggest claim to fame... voicing the most popular character from a series that has surpassed even Touhou surely has led to her widespread recognition. To the point where she's voicing two MCs in this coming cour (both high profile series as well), so that's really saying something.
