It was said that her soul wavelength would have a calming effect on his, hopefully lessening the effect of Asura's insanity upon Stein.

This was temporarily compromised by Marie ending up with one of Medusa's snakes inside of her, intended to have precisely the opposite effect; make Stein's descent into insanity accelerate. The snake was destroyed by Marie when BJ noticed it was inside of her.

So right now Kidd's missing in some book world, Justin's defected and Angela got in Shibusen...too bad Mifune's not around to see her! So, who's in the shibukids squad and what could their task be?

On a totally different matter, it doesn't feel like Justin is heavily influenced by the madness, per say. Rather, it is a conscious choice he made to follow the Kishin.

From that comment about his background, it looks like he's been the mole since day one. So it wasn't really a defection.

Hey...when Justin used that page to teleport to god knows where, did anyone notice that it looked a HELL of a lot like a page from the Book of Ebion? If my musings are correct, then there's a way to get out of the Book, since Justin proooooobably doesn't want to stay inside the Book of Ebion if it is a page he's using. Or I could be completely wrong and it's just a magic paper. This is so hard to explain in words....grrrr...

I'm all for Insane!Justin and here's to hoping for an Insane!Kid. *is a sucker for good guys going/actually-are evil*

Marie and Stein were pretty cool. I was so happy to see them fighting again...

Now I'm wondering, what does Medusa have to do with Justin's murdering of BJ? It's obvious that she set Stein up as the criminal, so did she have any contact with Justin? Did Justin plot with her? If so, what are they aiming to achieve?

Also, since Justin said "Kishin-sama", does that mean he's had direct, personal contact with Ashura?

Excellent as usual, just what I expect from a series as awesome as this one.

My thoughts on the chapter:

- Justin's sexist comment and then Marie dealing a can of whoop-ass on him right after. Ookubo is amazing, XD.

- The scene with Black Star and Soul. BS is really growing up, but it's to be expected. Dumbass characters can't remain stupid and big-headed with all this character development because this isn't Naruto.

- Angela asking Tsubaki when Mifune would be coming back was so heartbreaking. Poor Angie....I wonder how this will affect her later on though. Will she feel betrayed by Shibusen if they lie to her and thus have more of a chance of swaying bad or will she forgive them as well as BS?

- I'm not entirely sure what happened with the witches. It sounded like Shinigami accepted them as good and pardoned them for being witches....but it wasn't all that clear to me.

- Who wants to start theorizing who's going to be on the Kids Squad?

Considering B*S's condition, i think hes gonna be out of commission for a while, but I do agree that it may be possible for Maka and Soul to not go along because of that, or maybe Soul could actually try going on his own and do something cool for once, being all manry to protect her and such :<

Seeing Liz and Patti go along too would be nice, they haven't rly had any moments to shine, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

That's right, this shibukids thing could be a chance for Soul to shine and try to fight on his own for Maka's sake. Or maybe since she's being targeted he'll think he'll be able to protect her a lot better if he's near her and not away from her....

I suppose this new squad will consist of

pretty much the student pairs that have been shown so far, only in whatever different role Shinigami has in mind. If so, then Kirikou, Ox and Kim and their partners would be definites.

I can't quite see Maka taking a backseat, however sensible it might be, because it wouldn't fit with how Okubo has her facing challenges: even if Shinigami wants her out of the way for her own protection (and there's no question Spirit would agree were that the case), Maka could well defy him and do what she feels is right (that said, just because she did so in the anime doesn't mean the manga version will do the same).

However, if Maka's under threat, it would give a good opportunity to develop Soul's protection/power issues following Arachne's little dig at the subject. Doubt we've seen the end of that by a long way.

I agree with others that Black Star is out of commission for the moment. Liz and Patti could work together. Unless Okubo wants to stage such a storyline as Kid's rescue/the Noah issue without his main kids, I suspect it might be the first item on the agenda for the shibukids.

I noticed the same thing and was wondering if he's a triple agent, or maybe there are only two sides but they are more complex than have been explained thus far...
