I knew it was inevitable, but I admit, I still hate to see it. Then again, SCE survive unscathed through the PSX and PS2 days.

He only spent 5 weeks on it. the 3 years refers to how long the system has been without a crack.

In the interest of openness, I've decided to release the exploit. Hopefully, this will ignite the PS3 scene, and you will organize and figure out how to use this to do practical things, like the iPhone when jailbreaks were first released. I have a life to get back to and can't keep working on this all day and night.

Please document your findings on the psDevWiki. They have been a great resource so far, and with the power this exploit gives, opens tons of new stuff to document. I'd like to see the missing HV calls filled in, nice memory maps, the boot chain better documented, and progress on a 3D GPU driver. And of course, the search for a software exploit.

This is the coveted PS3 exploit, gives full memory access and therefore ring 0 access from OtherOS. Enjoy your hypervisor dumps. This is known to work with version 2.4.2 only, but I imagine it works on all current versions. Maybe later I'll write up how it works

Good luck!
So much for the earlier hoo-haa, without even a "Hello World" on a early version of the OS to boot. It just seem that he gives up the fight and past the rest of the dirty laundry for others to clean up.

Also by making the expolit public, Sony will be patching things up in no time. Combined with the following :-

Piracy on the PS3 will have a very long way to go. So basically, (thank goodness)we're back to square one.

Meh, I don't think I'm going to get a pirated games for my PS3 anyway. It's easy to get an original game in my country for PS3, so there's no reason not to buy it...and it gives me some morale boost to complete a game ~

Oh, thanks for your suggestion guys It's been a while since you guys posted it, and yet I'm still confused to buy the right game for me orz

I'm also near some final tests for just a few months again..so, I just want to play something that is easy to beat and is quite fun. Not to mention a game that doesn't take too much time to finish.

At first, I was thinking to save my money so I could buy Valkyria or Star Ocean when it'll come out...but considering my situation, I don't think it's wise to buy it because it might take a long time to beat. So...I'm reconsidering to buy something else, but I don't know which one should I bought >w<

Disgaea 3....impossible, that one will literally take my life. Should I just take Cross Edge ? or should I buy Gundam Musou or some KOEI games so that I can play it with my friend ? orz

And what's this about Uncharted and Bayonetta ? Is it good and don't take too much time to beat it ?
Well, Cross edge is just time expeding as Disgaea, but not as fun. The game is weird and very difficult to get. I played and i was like "WTF?" all the time. And it's pretty hard.

Bayonetta is pretty good and you will enjoy a lot... I think.

I actually loved Cross Edge. Then again, I've played all the featured games in it barring Atelier Marie, so it was fun seeing the characters interacting with each other. Which to be honest, is the only reason why you play the game, apart from looking for a challenge, as the plot is pretty much non-existant.

Also helps Laura Bailey is there. <3 Meu <3. XD

Grasshopper manufacture have a solid track record of good game, although not all were commercially successful, however they were never involved with the biohazard series IIRC. The only survival horror game, where they were involved with, is Zero: Tsukihami no Kamen, aka Fatal Frame/Project Zero 4, for the Wii.

Otherwise yeah Yamaoka joins Suda 51 => "(No More Heroes, Contact, Killer7, The Silver Case, Flower, Sun, and Rain and more)"
