I hope this is not the reason why we do not have a season 3 yet..

I hope not. :/ Since he's right. I'm happy with what we're getting. Bumps in the road, but learn as you go.

He shouldn't pay any attention to those whiners, they think that after watching anime they can do it better, is just pure ignorance.

Its like the gaming industry all over again- Nothing good will come out of antagonizing your fanbase.

I'm reminded of the Phil Fish incident. Fortunately, people seem to be giving him some support on twitter going by machine translation.

Agreed. I don't think this hampers Index III though but he shouldn't take notice to such comments when they don't know anything.

well, for me, if it is to have a Index III with the same quality of the II, then is better that never come, so I hope he try to improve with these criticisms.

I doubt J.C. staff would throw away their biggest goldmine because of a (possibly) butthurt director.

Id say II had more production issues than direction. So, hopefully with the movie, it shouldn't happen again.

I don't think there's any evidence that his comments come from being "butthurt" over anything. The context of the previous tweet is that even if people ask him how to be a director, there are lots of ways to think about it (i.e. no one right answer). His opinion is that if you think you have a good idea, you should try to make it happen. And he goes on to say that there are lots of opportunities even for shorter works to be recognized. The whole conversation is trying to be encouraging to people who want to break into the industry.

There's nothing in there at all to suggest that this is in some sort of response to criticism, rather that it's in response to people asking him for advice on the industry. But the "butthurt" idea makes for better tabloid journalism by taking things out of context.

Already found raws of the entire movie in the net... still not subbed though. But I think it will soon happen.

I guess this means I have to clear Index II soon ^^

I suspected as much- things felt a bit too quiet if it were true

That makes sense... Though I feel like the director probably wasn't happy at being criticized for Index II...

He wouldn't be happy if he was criticized for any of his work. :P

I'm sure he's used to being "criticized" by fans but, in the end, not all the things people direct at him are necessarily his fault either, and he knows that while others don't. Decisions about how much story to cover, for example, probably aren't his. The amount of time/budget given to make the production was also probably not under his control. Only he knows the constraints he was faced with, and he had to make the best of the situation.

Personally, I agree with what you said earlier than the major issues with Index II were probably not directorial in the first place, but fall more on the producers.

Anyway, all this is a little off-topic to the movie (but this thread is probably nearing end-of-life anyway). I'll just take this moment to say that, when the movie is finally released, please use the new thread that will be available at that time as opposed to this one.

According to what I see from stalker, it's predicted to sell 30k over for the blu-ray alone. That said, it's only a prediction and much might change within these three weeks. As for DVD, I have no idea.

People are more likely to buy a single Movies BD/dvd over a full Anime season's collection.

I had hoped for at least those numbers.
