ah dammit, i knew they were gonna tease us with this but I'm still pissed off. and even though it was obvious that kite is dead, i had a tiny hope that i was wrong.

though I have no idea WTF pitou is doing, maybe prepping herself for battle? that would be nice though, so we can finally see them fight.

Good bridge episode. As everybody expected, mental collapse of Gon is inevitable because Kite is already dead.
Can't wait next episode.

btw Pouf deserve to death and a sulky Palm is kinda sexy.

Can't help it when the way the anime handled his breakdown was pure Shinji material.

I agree though, this arc definitely isn't this series at its best. It's not such a minority, ever since the manga there's a pretty vocal crowd who thinks the same.

I was starting to like the king back during the pre-attack episodes, when he seemed to be growing a conscience. His later attitude when fighting Netero annoyed me. That combined with his bullshit power upgrades makes me wish Poof and Youpi had been too late to save him.

The royal guards are much more interesting characters, and I'd love to see how they develop in a world without Meruem.

I like it more than Greed Island (my least fav) but not by much and it certainly isn't my favorite. I do, however, like Gon during this arc bar his breakdown this episode. Didn't particularly like it (except for his rage side showing up) which also made me not like this episode as much as usual.

This arc has had some of the best episodes and moments in HxH in my opinion but it's dragging its feet too much, narration was a bit too heavy at times, and I really don't like the King surviving.

I mean, Gon is a jerk. Most of the characters are jerks. Many of the characters are extremely bad people. Some are even mass murderers and sociopaths.

This is not a show about good people doing nice things.

Megumi Han's been putting in major work, props to her.

I feel sorry for Gon. The way he reacted and the way he called for someone to help, desperately clinging to hope that Kite might be alive, it reminded me that he really is just a child.

Her new powers are amazing and she's so much stronger. Pouf's copying ability is a bit worrisome. Well, Gon finally learned the truth about Kite. This was not a surprise to me. I suspected that there was no hope after what Pitou did to him. It was sad seeing Gon in that broken down condition.. Looks like Pitou didn't waste any time. The deal is off Poufugi Kite (or what's left of him anyway) ------ Spoiler for part 2: Spoiler for The painful truth (or lie): "This man, is already dead." What a spread this is. I thought they'd replicate it after seeing the white background but nope, it was just Gon's close-up that we get (Though we do get a similar shot a moment later). But dear lord, the way the shock is made in the anime! You can tell this is the moment Gon lost all hope in life!! "I'm sorry" Gon's conflicting thoughts in his head. So it wasn't exactly like this, but the anime did well in this scene too with going back and forward in Gon's thoughts and memories trying to find the correct answer but fails in doing so. All hope is lost? There's no doubt about it. The way Gon felt when he knew Kite is no longer alive is definitely one of the best scenes in the anime so far. It wasn't action packed, but it got one of the strongest in the emotions and how it was just in thoughts without any action of body language or even a dialogue between two characters. It's just Gon, one character, and all the conflict was in his mind alone. He doesn't speak to anybody, he doesn't even talk. Everything was happening in his thoughts and I really, really liked how the contrast was handled and the shear saddens and anger he conveyed with his words and flashbacks. We don't see his physical face change. It was just in that sad look. And the best part was? He couldn't find the answer to his dilemma. And let's not forget the all great performance by our lady; Megumi Han. She is really an excellent voice actress and she has proven this in all the series and she really grew up to be one of my favorites and she is now the voice of Gon to me and I won't take a replacement over her in the future. 9/10
