The PSP hits Japan!
The PSP has officially luanched in japan. Check out the article from Gamespot:
http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/12...s_6114900.html By the way, the Nintendo DS has horrible graphics compared to the PSP. |

I've read somewhere that there were lines of 500 meters, with some people waiting more then 24 hours to get the PSP (To entertain themselfs, some people were playing on their DS's )
Man, I sure can't wait for this...to bad it'll take about 3 more months to be release here |

I have just read GameSpot's articles on the PSP and the DS launch.
I would go for a DS. Why? DS is innovative. PSP is not. The DS is cheaper. The DS has better battery life. Two things that might hurt the DS, though... The PSP has a better design, says the popular opinion. The DS has about half the resolution of the PSP. But I don't care that much. I'll be looking at my game, and graphics don't make a game. |

Well actually I want a PSP and a DS but...
If this is true for the PSP Q: How long does the PSP's battery last? A: The short answer is that it depends on what you're doing. The longer answer is that Sony has stated that the battery should last around six hours. With simpler-looking games, like Lumines or Mahjong Fight Club, that definitely seems to be the case. But with more graphically intensive games, like Ridge Racers, the battery doesn't last quite as long. Based on our estimates and a few battery-draining tests, Ridge Racers seems to last somewhere between 90 minutes and three hours. Playing with the wireless networking switch flipped on will also further reduce your battery life. The system has an auto-sleep function that stops the wireless drain, but that switch is there for a reason. Turn it off when you're not using it. From gamespots..... Then I have to rethink about this.... |

You would be surprise to see how the gamefaqs forums are in the psp board, ack! o.o
I think psp will do good, it got good graphics, like the DS. DS doesnt have HORRIBLE graphics, and the gba library with future releases of DS games isnt all that bad. I heard the PSP battery life is a problem but it varies with each game/movies/volume etc.. I want both handhelds =D |

Sadly, DS will sell better. I said sadly because PSP looks way too good, but the same thing happened with Game Gear.
Well, regarding this topic, j-people always make this "camp" outside the stores, remember Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, etc. |

Have stores outside of Japan now gotten demo models to let prospective buyers look at the system BTW? Both DS and PSP, I thought, had nice displays. PSP's is more realistic, but DS's does a very good job with showing off what it has as well.

In the end, it's the gameplay/fun factor that counts. |
