Hina ep was great. She finally got to say sorry. Lol when Ne-san entered Kazumas's room in the morning. Nee-san sure is scary when angry. That tug or war was interesting, never thought Kazuma would win, good for Hina that he did.

Ayumu in a fundoshi is almost as sparkly as Erio in a futon...

I must confess, Hoshizora trying to be serious was pretty boring for me. Hina is undeniably hot, but she wasn't nearly as amusing as she had been as a supporting character. If you told me there'd be an all-Hina episode, I'd have taken that in a heartbeat - but in the end it didn't do much for me.

Amusing how Hina can always reply with that same 'expressionless' tone, it also seems she sounds uninterested if we were just to hear without seeing.

And this episode proves she is not only all looks, but smarts also, with the occasional airheadness.

Awesome, an episode focused on Hina, who is my second favorite girl in this show. She sure had it tough with a tsundere father, but glad it all worked it out in the end.

Nine episodes in and another girl falls for our hero. Sadly, there's been zero development on his part towards any of the girls and with only 3-4 episodes left, it's either going to be a rushed ending or a no ending. Bleh. That's why so few eroge based animes are really any good. I think Clannad is the only one that really stands out to me. Though, Shuffle wasn't too bad either.

I personally liked both the beach episode and the Hina episode. More generically, the anime has become better after the school sports festival episode. Nothing outstanding, but decent and at times truly enjoyable.

There would be also Canvas 2 and Da Capo first season. But then we can see that good adaptations can happen if the series are at least 2 cours. What can you do in the development department with 12 episodes and 5/6 heroines, if you consider 2-3 episodes for generic introduction and one episode devoted to each one of them?

Spoiler for Hoshikaka 09 - Hina-saku Iroha:

Winning a tug-of-war match against a man several times his age and size and getting a face full of chest at the same time? That ranks about 10.03 kilodudes. Not bad, Kazuma. A pretty touching episode, and a fitting conclusion to Hina's arc throughout the series. Her boldness is quite bold, especially with the wiping down scene. I believe I may have developed a new, budding fetish because of that scene. Nice seeing Hina in the Yorozuyo clothes as well.

What I find strangest of all is how, except for a single scene with Ui, the rest of the cast up and vanished. Makes the world feel a little emptier. Especially since this was taking place at Madoka's shrine. You'd think she'd be there to oversee the event. No matter, she gets her own screentime next week.

I don't think Hina-papa was "several times" Kazuma's age there. He looked late 30's to me (and pretty muscular, too) and Kazuma is what - 16?

Yeah, It implies that her role will be over in next ep. (That will be sad for her)

I guess they will cut either Ibuki or Madoka out from the love competition before the last ep.

True, all visual novel adaptations should be 24-26 eps. long but that's impossible. Nowadays, it's hard to see 24-26 eps. adaption unless the original source is very popular.

As we're already talking of Madoka - didn't anyone find it strange that we didn't see Madoka at all at the shrine when they did the tug-of-war?
I'd expect her to stand next to her dad at the front. At the very least, she should've been there with Hina and the others, cheering on Kazuma, but she was nowhere to be seen... now that was seriously strange

That's my point and it's why most 12-13 episode VN adapations fail. Clannad and Shuffle were good, both were 2 seasons. Clannad Afterstory, the best one I've ever seen, again, 2 seasons.

Haven't finished Da Capo (got bored a couple episodes in) and haven't watched Canvas 2 because I heard bad things about it (though the manga was good).

But they really need the extra episodes to develop not only the girls, but the main character as well. After all, it's annoying having him suddenly fall for someone out of nowhere with no build up, end up without a choice or even worse, as I've seen some do, have the development be towards one girl and then suddenly swap at the last second for shock value.

Or it could be the "intro/start" of her character development.

She is the first girl we see in ep 1, this normally sets the girl as the main heroine, but a part from the flashback, her character development has been fairly shallow.
Ui and even Ibuki seem to be getting more development time.

Can't quite tell where this anime is going, a "no-ending" does seem likely.

As for who I hope it will be ... probably Ibuki - unlikely I know.
Ui is a bubblehead, I hate this type of characters, and she scares me a little - there seem to be a bit of Yandere hiding under the bubbly exterior.
Madoka is just boring. I kind of got burned out on wishy-washy heroines after Love Hina - at least Shinobu was cute. But maybe next ep will fill her out a little.

Spoiler for Some mussings with VN knowledge in mind, no future spoilers obviously.:

While that could be a possibility indeed (Have to be especially wary of them these days, more so than in the past ...), i wouldn't write this one off just yet. It's certainly true there hasn't been much that could pass for direct romantic developments up to now, but the VN was not all that different in this regard up to this point (Granted, they have removed some "flag events", but still workable all around) - the "common route" of the game took up the majority of the content, with heroine specific arcs being rather short in comparison.

In fact, the beach event is where the "common route" of the game ends and it splits in to heroine specific paths past that. Which the anime kinda mimics i guess, given that straight after the beach episode we dived head first in to Hina's story, such as it was.

As for what this means ... well, the romantic developments were fairly quick to crop up in the VN during the home stretch of the story, so there is still hope the anime does the same. Obviously i know better than to count my chickens before they have hatched (Fortune Arterial burned me badly ), but, believe it or not, i actually can see where they are probably going with this, and how some of the things they have introduced (yes, they have ) would tie in to the specifics of a certain route.

Saying who or how would be potential spoilers, so I won't, but there is hope yet for a conclusion involving developments on the romance side, least the studio decides to sink their own ship at the last moment. Here's hoping it won't - nothing irritates me more than a story with romance close to its core that doesn't bring it to a conclusion.
