I'm still slightly confused, due to one of Renegade's images and solace saying that they were OK. The image in question is this one, where the character is wearing battle (ceremonial?) armor along with a sash of sorts. While this is certainly elegant and ceremonial, it isn't something that you'd see people going to a festive celebration in (such as a ball, or a regular festival).

Is this allowable? If it is, lucky me!

So I might as well try and clear mine up before I get too attached to my borderline render: Its from ef, really cute shot(see spoiler) but i'm not sure. Its lacy and sorta frilly, but then again it could be a run of the mill sundresses or sorts along those lines. A quick Yea or Nea from the higer ups?
Spoiler for render:
It's pretty, but borderline. I'd probably say it's ok.

A good question to make before choose one screen is:

About the clothes she is wearing. She can use it in any normal situation? (work, sleep, school, home)

If the answer is yes, is better search for other screen.

@Ayame: Using this method. For you I think the answer is Yes.
Good way of looking at it.

Well, we're dealing with anime, so some creative license is given. While that suit of armor probably isn't something you'd see a person wearing for a real life ceremony, it does fit the theme and isn't something people would wear into regular battle. So yes, it's allowable.

WUT?!!!! That is elegant/formal. I guess anything would do as long as they are pretty.

It looks more like regular summer dresses - not really formal, although it is arguably elegant.

I think i'll get my entry up to get over the boarder line. Its a pretty simple sig. The background was a little tough to make, but all in all, I'm please with it. I might change it/edit it, but I want to make sure that I at least get the entry in for this one so I don't procrastinate it.

It doesn't seem to give the aura of formality. It's elegant but not formal. Oh and summery too

--> I'm sure there's a kimono-clad girls from ef no? I've seen one before . Maybe you should try using one just a suggestion

I might try a few things with some kimono renders'. i might edit this one up, but it does have a nice summery aura. Up here in Canada winter is refusing to leave. Perhaps its just wishful thinking on my part.

Formal was dropped from the title for a reason. Don't cling to that word so strongly. The essence of the theme is basically "pretty girls", meaning they should be dressed in a very feminine way. The reason I consider that image borderline is not because of the summer dress, but because the dress is very minimal on the lace and frills.

Also, just a reminder from last contest - when you have decided on your final entry, please put Final Entry in the post that contains that entry. This makes it easier for me to keep track during the contest.

The orange bg is overpowering the whiteness of the render. I also don't think the bg necessarily fits. The text on the left is pretty unnoticeable so it would just be better to remove it of place it somewhere else. The lighting looks a bit strange but maybe that's just me.

Hope that helped.

Yeah I'd agree with the above posts. The colours clash a little bit. The white on the side of her face is pretty strong too.

Touche, well, I have a borderline image, I'd be one of the last people to hit up for renders.

I might take bearshares lead and stop giving criticism as well. :P
