Atelier Ayesha: Alchemist of the Ground of Dusk (PS3)

Quote:
The official name for Gust's Project A14 has been revealed in Dengeki PlayStation this week to be Ayesha no Atelier, or Atelier Ayesha.

The magazine reveals two characters: Ayesha Artool (voiced by Marina Inoue) and Nio Artool (voiced by Mariya Ise). At the game's unveiling last week, Gust announced the voice actresses, but did not share the character names or the new character designer. Dengeki reveals the designer to be Hidari (known for the Fractal anime).

Nio is Ayesha's little sister. Nio has gone missing, leaving Ayesha lonely. Just as she has come to grips with her sadness, Ayesha discovers some traces of her sister and comes to believe that she is alive somewhere. Asha heads out her journey.

Dengeki mentions one new gameplay system, the "Connecting Memories" system. As Ayesha progresses on her search for her sister, all the various happenings will be recorded in a journal. As she reviews these journal entries, she will grow.

The game will have a command battle system with a newly added "cost" element. Enemy position is a central element to strategy, as it seems that attacking more distant enemies will require additional cost.

Atelier Ayesha will be released on June 28.

I was surprised to see that nobody had made a thread for this rather delicious looking game. I'm sure NISA will probably localize it next year, but I'm still very tempted to import the game.

The alchemy system for this game looked pretty interesting and there were a lot of nice things I saw in the trailers. The other PS3 Atelier games have been great for me, so I can't wait to play this one.

That.. might take you a while to do so; unless you're able to fly to through the games, that is. I wouldn't be very surprised if NISA were to announce that they plan on bringing over Ayesha by the time you're finished. xD

Yeah, it does. It's weird, but I certainly like it.

Oh, yeah! I love red heads (Regina, Murietta) but her long hair + massive sword was too much for me, haha.

Japan has a strange obsession for character names with an equal sign in the middle of their name. If you played BlazBlue, almost everyone has that same pattern name (i.e. レイチェル=アルカード). Probably that's how they separate first name and last name for character that has noble origin or the like.

It's not an obsession -___-;

It's legit punctuation. It's either double hyphen or the dark full stop

Now was a good time to get into the Atelier series(I've been playing Totori for a month, but before that I played the 1st Atelier Iris for the ps2 at launch =03). Those graphics are pretty nice, and they've got rid of the 'talking portraits' that I haven't liked in Totori(and possibly Meruru). Never saw the reason to use portraits when you have good looking 3D models =0\.

If only all these Jrpg (sort of) eventually be released in X-box 360....

I can get a PS3 too, but does not consider myself hardcore enough to have both

I don't think having both console is anything to be considered hardcore. Just think it's as a little invest so you don't have to worry about which platform the game will be published.

Beside, 2nd one is cheap nowaday.

I haven't played through a lot of Meruru, but even in Meruru I can tell that they were trying to ease away from 2D portraits and use more 3D models. But they were pretty awful at portraying expression and the lip syncing made it really goofy . I'll miss the portraits.

They also need to work on the lip-syncing.

Indeed. They should've stuck with the 2D portraits.
