On a side note however, both the Edelweiss and the King Tiger turret use the standard 88 KwK - Tak

Don't know, it's up to the moderators to decide and i suggest you (and everyone else) to stop asking about it again since they don't like people asking that question again and again and there are repercussion for those who didn't listen.
Just wait and see if they do make a VC sub-forums.

I apologise if this has been covered, but in episode 2 I don't think we see the Edelweiss' turret rotate, is this because they don't know how/don't have enough manpower to operate it properly or because it's actually more of a self-propelled gun?

commander, gunner, loader, driver, radio operator. However, in theory, it is possible to operate a tank with just the gunner, loader & driver. Isara was the driver, Welkin was the gunner and Alicia ... er... played the role of the commander in addition to perhaps being the loader. - Tak

On edelweiss' tech for those interested:
Tank turret is pretty heavily influenced by german WW2 Tiger 2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_II) - note especially the ballistic form absent in earlier tiger series and rest of the tanks in the anime in general. Tank chassis just looks plain weird. As if they grabbed Panzerkampfwagen IV (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panzer_IV) base and slightly upgraded the front to be more curved. Wheelbase has clear signature of interwar period (between 1919 and 1938). Small wheels on base due to metallurgical and technological limitations of the period are visible on the tank and separate small track carrying wheels on top. This was discarded in WW2 tanks in favor of having a single set of larger wheels. All in all, edelweiss looks like a weird mish-mash of 1920 tech and 1940 tech. And on a funny note, take a look at We can clearly see the driving wheels that transfer force from engine to tracks (ones with spikes in them) in FRONT of the tank. However the tank engine block is clearly in the rear of the tank. Shows that designer didn't exactly have a clue how tanks are built . Well, it still looks pretty, which is the main point though. Another hilarious moment of "err, that's not how it works" is noted at 14 minutes into the episode, when edelweiss shoots two tanks dead within 2 seconds with it's main gun. Notably, even modern autoloaders would not be able to reload main gun that fast, much less a skeleton crew of 3 on a WW2 tank which generally had to be reloaded manually. Yeah, I don't know, they made her so violent and hotheaded in this one. Instead of the slightly shy, but more calm and collected counterpart in the game :/
You know, she is supposed to be a baker... but doesn't seem to have the patience to be one... - Tak

BTW, what's with all the discussion on historical accuracy and such? Anyone familiar with the phrase "suspend your disbelief"? |

Well, I tend to draw a line, but I appreciate a good dose of relative reality. For example, by the laws of physics and technology, when you fire a gas-operated kinetic weapon, empty shells should eject. It just does not seem to be the case int he anime (although in the game, shells do eject). Although its a small thing I can easily overlook, its not going to distract my overall enjoyment. Though one can't help it, since most of the arsenal in VC are more-or-less based on the weapons of WWII. It is, by itself a rather fascinating subject of discussion. Of course, Valkyires on the battlefield: Gallian Chronicles is fantasy, and should not be confused with Tigers of the battlefield: Panzer Chronicles On a second note: Quote:

No, even with my limited knowledge of the Japanese language, I can safely say that's a pretty accurate translation. |

Honestly if the rest of the cast have their characters raped like Alicia's I can see VC's anime turning into a slow moving train-wreck. Which is annoying because if the anime became successful there'd be even more chance for a VC 2.
In the game she's calm, rational, intelligent, brave and caring, only really getting annoyed when Welkin does something stupid... like compare her to a (beautiful in his mind) bug. Here she's just bloody Louise with more tits and fewer brain cells. So long as Welkin becomes more assertive in the next few episodes he won't be too much of a break from character... ----------------- Also, to those complaining about how those two militia kids don't make sense... well sure, how they're portrayed doesn't. But the game has, in her own words, "Shhhuuuupa Aaiishaaaa!", 12 years old with a machinegun and a flamethrower. When the Gallians say "Universal Conscription" and "all levels of schooling have militiary training" they MEAN it. Primary seems to be basics, Secondary appears to be specialisation, and Tertiary is Officer training. Which is why the depiction of the Bruhl Watch seems so stupid... then again, this is the pre-WWII era, so standard military doctrine probably didn't include the part about ensuring you can retreat safely from a situation. |

I think this season will wrap things up...hopefully if not a 2nd concluding season might not be a bad idea, just depends on how they handle it all. btw I honestly do not see how Alica can be compared to Louise?!

Not second season. Second game. I don't care about the anime, but I NEED a second game. If this helps make it possible, so be it.
Edit: The only difference between anime-Alicia and Louise is the size of her mammary glands and the hitting of the male protagonist. Everything else screams "utterly retarded tsundere with three brain cells". |
