Yuki Yuna Is a Hero: Hero Chapter (movie & TV) [Season 2]

Quote:
The official Twitter account for the Yuki Yuna Is a Hero television anime series announced on Sunday that the anime is getting a second season in 2017. The sequel is titled Yūki Yūna wa Yūsha de Aru: Yūsha no Shō (Yuki Yuna Is a Hero: Hero Chapter).
Quote:
The anime will be a sequel the Yuki Yuna Is a Hero television anime, and will also adapt author Takahiro and illustrator BUNBUN's illustrated novel series Washio Sumi wa Yūsha de Aru (Washio Sumi is a Hero).

The anime's first half (six episodes) will be the adaptation of Washio Sumi wa Yūsha de Aru titled Yūki Yūna wa Yūsha de Aru: Washio Sumi no Shō (Yuki Yuna Is a Hero: Washio Sumi Chapter). The anime will first have theatrical screenings in March 2017 before the anime airs on television.
Yuki Yuna gets season 2.

I'm kind of torn on this. While I really appreciate the original, I fear the sequel part would be catering for people that wanted something "darker", as evidenced by all the (IMO, questionable) discussion about the last few minutes of the original.

But that's wrong. This prequel was released before the anime and ended during its first episodes emission.

Pros: I love the characters. I love the visuals. Could be a very good anime. Might be interesting to see Sumi's story told in anime format.

Cons: Aside from Sumi's story, it's a little hard to see where they can go with this show plot-wise. Yuuki Yuuna Season 1's ending was pretty concrete and conclusive. And the end situation is what it is. A Yuuki Yuuna sequel strikes me as having little choice but to choose between more Deus ex Machina or BAD END. I'm not sure how satisfying either would be.

But we'll see! Maybe the writers will come up with something interesting.

I'm not talking about the prequel, but about the six episodes that will be a sequel to the original.

There is a bonus light novel chapter called "Sonoko After" that takes place after the anime. This sequel will probably build up on that.

Anyway, google Sonoko After. You'll find the translation right away. It's just one chapter, pretty short too.

Hrm ... well ... I will give it a try at least. I liked what they did in the first season.

But I am also curious as to where else they could take the story?

Well, to counter my own argument slightly... There is room for character development. There's certainly places left to go on the SoL/life drama side of things. Yuuna and Mimori could become closer. Itsuki could become stronger to prove herself to her big sis Fuu. Karin could become more easy-going and fun-loving.

I wonder about the action side of things, but we'll see.

First off, I'm so happy at this announcement I mankai'd!

(Don't ask what happens to me after)

Interesting that they made these announcements at the Minatosoft event that just finished yesterday - Minatosoft made the visual novel minigames that were packaged as bonuses with the original Japanese release. In two weeks, there is an actual YuYuYu event, Mankai Matsuri 2.

So it makes me wonder if they'll announce anything more, or even show a full PV, at what is supposed to be the series' "Main" event, since the Minatosoft one is mainly focused on their previous games like Majikoi.

Lastly, to answer the questions about the various prequels:

You have Yuki Yuna is a Hero, the anime. Washio Sumi is a Hero, the first six episodes of the new season, takes place before Yuki Yuna.

Then, there was an additional ongoing story, Nogi Wakaba is a Hero, which takes place even further back. So in summary:

1. Nogi Wakaba is a Hero
2. Washio Sumi is a Hero
3. Yuki Yuna is a Hero
4. Sonoko After

Sonoko After is an epilogue, following immediately after Yuki Yuna is a Hero. It clarifies some details on the ending of the anime, and gives enough wiggle room for the story to continue.

Something important to mention is that last year during the radio program, they had 5 YuYuYu announcements, one for each tenet of the Hero club. At the time, they were:

1. Character Song CD
2. Nogi Wakaba serialization
3. Mankai Matsuri 2
4. (Censored by Taisha)
5. (Censored by Taisha)

The first 3 are out already. Since the Prequel/Sequel are combined into one season, would this fill one or two of the remaining slots?

I am the only one here who wish that this series should have BAD END

Have you read Nogi Wakaba wa Yuusha de Aru? It takes place 300 years before the tv show, and it's about the first group of heroes. It seems the sequel anime will have a connection to this novel, bringing full closure to the story as a whole.

That being the case, I think a bad end is unlikely.

Well anime implied there was a story to be told with Sonoko's past and Mimori's lost memories, so it will likely cover their story prior to the anime given that the promotional art features both of them.

I really hope so. I was very worried in the last third of the show because I don't like bad endings... I don't mind suffering and drama, but I guess I just prefer that things end as good as they could.

I was talking the other prequel, that happened 300 years (?) before the main story.

I won't say that I wonted the bad end but I found the original YuYuYu ending to positive. They should have gone with something bittersweet at least.

That would be spoiler knowledge therefor this isn't the best thread to ask about it .
