Not sure if they ran out of time, money or just think we're too stupid to keep track of the story for more than 6 episodes without recap, but whichever the cause, i can't help but see it as a bad sign.

They ran out of time and the time slot in TV channels was already bought since months, so the usual answer for that problem is a recap to give them one more week for the next episode.
There is no taking other for idiots or anything, that's a really common and logical practice.

Nice to get all the detail of the LN version. Bit weird to be reading it last (after manga and anime) rather than first. The translation seems to have been quality checked particularly well this time too (or maybe it was that I was reading through it quite quickly).

Incidentally, latest manga chapter is out. Heh, the Federation guys get some good info on Tanya... but consider it to be just propaganda and false intel

How is he still alive in the first place I mean he coughed blood and left to die in the sea and also if someone could save shouldn't the empire as prisoner since that area under the empire control. A lot of stuff says he's dead or impossible to save him.

Yeah that is the problem he wasn't suppose to have survive in the first place, the animator must use being x as the Dues Ex Machina for him to have survive. If there he isnt dead by the end of this season. Then we will get an Anime Original Ending for this Anime.

Who knows maybe after Tanya kick his ass again, his daughter will show up as the next antagonist for next season or Tanya dies in the anime or they end it with a cliffhanger with not! UK Declare war on the empire and his daughter will show up again as the new rival to Tanya.

If properly following the time-line of the LN,

Anson Suez was suppose to die later on in a sea escort mission, not during the assault on the Olso/Orsefjord. But regardless, by the time Tanya committed the mini-genocide in Arene, Anson would have been dead before then.

Okay! Next weeks episode will probably be loosely following volume 2 last chapter: Preparation for Moving Forward, as the title of the next episode is "Prepare To Advance".

If they did not show the ending clip this episode, we would have been able to pin point where this anime was going to end. But with the resurrection of Anson Sue, it will be difficult to tell what the ending will be, as this dead man role become something major in the anime. While he was just a nameless soldier in the light novel.

So the probability that a battle between Him and Tanya is pretty high if they want a seasonal finale boss, but if this was to happen.

The question is where?

In the Light Novel he just died like a insect while defending the fleeing government official of the Legedonia Federation in the sea.

with four episode left and assuming they still loosely follow the Light Novel.

The opportunity he will encounter Tanya lies in three action scene where he could maybe fit in.

Next episode when Tanya is order to protect the retreating empire army.

Episode 10 when Tanya will get launch into the HQ of the Republican Headquarter.

And the most likely episode that they will meet, is in episode 11, because that is mostly the episode where the defeated Republican Government official is fleeing from the empire forces to the Allied Kingdom.

Tanya wanted to stop them from getting away but was stop because of high command in the light novel. However, instead of high command stopping Tanya, it was Anson that stop Tanya from killing the exiled republican government official.

That is most likely where the Final Battle takes place and if Tanya win in this battle, yet still fails to kill the Government official, then this anime will end with the Allied Kingdom declaring War on the empire, and there is also the fact that, of all the good scenes that they could have left in the anime, they chose the scene where Tanya convince the captain that is her rival in the war college to get a rear job because he did not want his daughter to become a soldier like Tanya if he was to die. Which leads me to believe that Anson will die again in episode 11 then Mary will get the letter that he died and join the army like before.

Spoiler for anime prediction:

09. the death ride of 203 to cover the fake retreat of the empire, then ride the V1

10. shock and awe, Paris edition

11. operation Fall Gelb, closing of the swing gate/trap,

12, fall of Paris, Dunkirk.

specifically for the ending, Anson should still die over the ocean covering the Dunkirk withdraw, but because of his heroic, De Gaulle is able to escape to Africa to continue the war, (not because of novel’s chief of staff overconfidence,) thus being X has his hand in the eventual Empire downfall. (if there is a season 2), and we can end season 1 with Mary joining the American Volunteers to fight on the United Kingdom side. this is the ending I like.

or we can flip the ending with Tanya purposely let herself be shot down by Anson, (or even a suicide run by Anson would do), fake her death and then moved onto America to escape the war and the eventual empire defeat, (in effect, beating being X, just skip the Soviet and America arc) this ending would do if they don’t consider doing a second season, and will correspond back to the OP when the three squad leaders + Grant and Visha paying respect to Tanya’s grave.

I have a hard time seeing the anime doing a complete run of the novel adaption, (what? will probably take another 2 seasons to finish it,) and there is no way they will do the Mary Su ending exactly like the web novel, in fact, they might change it in the paper edition is my guess, I also see the lolicon of the Soviet secretary hard to do for anime consumption, ending this anime series in one season might not be a bad choice,
