Why wouldn't we?

I could see that trend of thought if we were sticking to OVAs, but seeing as how we're getting a television series...

It's just that there are so many story elements and characters to cover in the Rebellion arc that the anime may not get to show all of the characters; especially since the Rebellion arc doesn't have a tournament set-up, so it won't be easy to just throw characters into the plot as it was in the first seasons.

We most likely will see every Rebellion character in at least in one episode, but I won't get my hopes up for Layla and Izumi until I see them.

Considering that it was just officially greenlit and both Layla and Izumi have been known for a while, they're probably working them in there somehow.

Both are kinda connected to Nanael in a way (Layla's backstory and Izumi's character designer), too, and Nanael is pretty fucking popular.

Agree. The same fate happenened to Nyx, who could be introduced to the story just in the second season.

To me Izumi is more of a "good girl" than Nanael, I honestly think Izumi will break down and admit that she is not a Samurai at some point in the story.

Yeah, my guess is that Izumi will have a coming-of-age story to her a la Leina.

Also, I just noticed that Vante doesn't have a voice actress. Guess they'll just keep her using only noises like in the stories. It'll be interesting how they characterize Vante with no dialogue.

I hope VQ was something the creators wanted to do as a one-time change of pace, as I wouldn't want the tone of VQ be a sign of the tone the Rebellion anime will have. QB has always had some serious tones to it, but it was still kinda light-hearted.

The whole slavery situation with Dogura annoys me the most; it just feels forced into the character of Branwen. IMO, it just looks stupid to see Branwen (and now one other character) as a slave to the guy when they could probably kill him in a second. It's like if Menace was a slave to Setra. Hopefully Dogura meets his end soon in the Rebellion story, as it seems like a waste of a cool character like Branwen, a dragon tamer, to be simply a slave and nothing more.

I just hope QB continues to keep its dignity down the road. But, that's just my opinion, I'm sure plenty of people would like to see QB get even more risque with its content. Not me though; after reading VQ, I see that a more risque tone is definitely not the path I want QB to take.
