It's quite original by shounen standard, but don't expect it to be deep and thought provoking.

I've read Shounen Jump for more than a decade and most of the mangas in it except maybe for some new serializations that don't last for more than half a year. not something I should be proud of since I'm no longer shounen LOL. but I don't think those are new themes. and is Oga really a world protector??

depends on how you define it. death note was quite original to me. one piece's theme and plot device may not be original, but the setting and world is. and there's also the matter on story depth and twists for other series. yeah, maybe I'm the type who prefers plot and twist depth and creativity.

& i'd disagree with that. I found that the comedy was adapted rather nicely, especially in the second episode.

The anime went a bit over the top with the zapping, though it was to expand on the last scene, which i found worked rather well. All the other jokes (Furuichi based especially) were hilarious.

Brilliant third episode. The humour is adapted so well that i end up laughing just as much as i do when reading the manga. Plus adding Sugita Tomokazu and Kishio Daisuke to the mix makes it all the better. Oh Natsume, what a great character you are.

Furuichi x Alain Delon easily stole the episode , along with that few second Hilda service. Oh my that was good.

I agree with Shiroth, this episode is brilliant, I really wish the anime continue with this treatment for the rest of the episode.

And really, the reason I said the anime did a good job is because instead of padding the minutes with zapping like the last two ep, here they did something different by putting in events in the future earlier. This event is the Alain Delon living in with Furuichi (damn, it's possibly even more hilarious animated, although - whether translation different or something - the anime misses Furuichi's sister saying 'in the ass!?'. I really LOL at that one). The brilliance is that this move still makes sense coming this early, as it doesn't contradict anything anyway. Oh, and it seems there's also an early bird cameo with the three housewives. In addition to that, I love how they make a bit of a plot extension using a small part of the manga, the yogurty, and makes it fits perfectly. Now this is how you extend things to fit an episode.

There are other changes like how Kanzaki put up more of a fight here, instead of being OHKO'd by Oga in the manga, but I think it doesn't diminish Oga's badassness, and instead improves Kanzaki a bit. Speaking of Kanzaki, Tomokazu Sugita did a wonderful job in making him sound threatening, kudos for him. On a side note, few seconds of Hilda service is great...

Ah, if only this is the first episode, I'm sure more will be hooked.

So even baby Beel looks cute while asleep.

Alain staying at Furuichi's house was hilarious, even more than when Hilda came to stay at Oga's house. Also that attempt to produce milk had me laughing so hard.

So Oga's attempt are foiled by himself.

So next ep we finally have diapers

Why? As much as I remember - this was in manga too. So it's not a filler

Episode 4 aint much of a filler, the anime just probably expanded a chapter.

I was looking forward to ep3 , and it paid off well, the Oga commenting on Hilda's boobs was freaking hilarious, and I've been waiting for Kanzaki and Natsume to show up, they're all great characters

In a round about way, we found out the adaptation will be 50 episodes, and high chances are that will increase, so i'll take fillers. As long as they're fun that is.
