It seems Kyou is a nightmare whose yard is the dream world itself. He was born because of Yumeji opening a door in the dream world, which is something that shouldn't be done and which damaged the dream world. It created a new body to withstand the pain from being torn apart, and a heart to heal its wounds. That's Kyou. And when Yumeji opened the door, something was released that destroyed his right hand (the hand he opened the door with). He wished for the keep the promise with Merry to get her back home, and he got a nightmare arm. Which we also know is an arm with Kyou's power.

Kyou's actual name is Rem Shiragi Kyou.

I wonder if the First Dream Demon Sandman will make an appearance. He probably watching Dream demon fight going on. I wonder how strong is the Sandman thou?

Can't believe Kyou just announced that he's going to devour them. They're just going to think he's crazy, aren't they?

Also, on MangaDex there seems to be something missing. What happened after Yumeji got that stomach wound and everyone thought he was dead? I know he can't die until Kyou dies, but he was really hurt that time and wasn't getting up, so how exactly did he get up after that?

This series ranks very high in my list of adventure series because of how much time has been dedicated in developing not only the main characters, but also the supporting cast and their enemies. All of them grow, but as characters and in their skill, their mental fortitude and their bonds. Even the non fighters have a lot to contribute. The downtime is just as entertaining as the fighting arcs. I will be very sad to see this go, but it has the potential to become something big if it manages to close the last arc well.

Seeing new update on this again remind me how Merry is where I start following anime by season.
The last battle look real hype with all the remaining nightmare gathering on stage and I hope all of them will manifest their entire arsenal for the final battle.

I'm really worried about how they're going to defeat the Dream World itself. They can't kill Kyou's avatar that's in the human world right now, and killing the real thing would be a bad idea anyway as that would destroy the Dream World. Although I wonder if it's even possible for them to accomplish that.

Would be great if there's a way for them to win here.

The series is really revving up the engine for the final arc. This easily ranks as my favorite underrated series ever.

I just got caught up to the latest chapter and man does this look like trouble. That "Empty" will just get even stronger if it eats Kanade, so that's just another reason to not let her get eaten, isn't it? This is bad.

I really hope they find a way to stop Kyou. Everyone on earth being put into an eternal dream would definitely not be good.

after each member of Merry's gang ends their respective battles half-dead, the volume ends with Kyou appearing behind Merry and making her disappear before the stunned and disconcerted gaze of Yumeji and Sonar Clione

Considering that she's the Gatekeeper and he's the outside manifestation of the Dream World itself, he might either want to force her to completely open the door or he could be wanting to kill her or take her back to the Dream World. Either way, I really want to read the chapters, so hopefully we'll be able to at some point.

I wonder where the real Sandman is. Probably watching all of what's going on.

Just wanted to pop in and say how much I appreciate the level of detail that this series has in its writing. Minor details in earlier chapters all alluded to the reveal of their past and considering the actual time span it took from earlier chapters to the actual reveal, that’s an amazing amount of planning put in the story.

While I kind of expect a bittersweet kind of ending. I’m hoping the bitter part comes from the world going back to normal. So the nightmares can’t interact with the humans anymore as they have been throughout the series and not with any characters dying.
