Anime Broadcast sponsor message.

Ok this has been eating me for a while, why do people leave them in if they aint gonna subtitle the talk there ?

Is it really that hard to translate a line that is the same every episode and put it in.

In my humble opinion if you dont sub it take it out.

Take Care

Broadcast sponsor messages are funny, even when they're not translated. And it makes the sub more... official and cool looking. There's no point in removing them, if you ask me.

without the sponsors the show would not be on TV, I think the small advertisement screens should be left in AND translated.

Personally, I think they should be left in as well, though not necessarily subbed. Why?

It's sort of up to the group if they want to sub them or not, but taking them out is rather evil. As NinjaServ said, without them the show wouldn't even be on TV. IMO, taking them out would make fansubs one step closer to warez. Since they are property of the TV stations anyway, removing it would sort of be like de-facing them.

I agree, it annoys me that they are left in and not subbed.

Okay, leaving them in: respect for the original producers of the show+the TV station.
So, how am I suposed to know of the objects of respect when I've got a bunch of random kanji on screen, with a bunch of random Japanese? Maybe with a random "Macdonald's" or "Sony", or even "King Records", heh.

With no subs, it's just a pointless thing, wasting a few hundred k of space that could've been put towards the video/audio.

Also, one group I worked with told me to cut the sponsor message at the end, but leave the one after the op, and refused to sub them (though I think we did in the end). I dun get it.

If it was purely up to me though, I'd probably remove them. If you want me to pack encodes down to 175 megs, then you can live without them, haha :P
I'm cheap like that ^^
Look after the pennies, heh.

It only sounds cool and worthy of subbing because it's in a different language. If you understood all that stuff, it'd be just as boring as sponsor messages in English language TV broadcasts.

some or most sponsor messages appear after the OP, its a hassle to cut those parts out.
And i dont mind to see the sponsors, i wouldn't mind seeing them subbed either.
If the translator chooses to translate em i'll put em in my encodes =P

as for other groups, its their choice...

I wish they could encode some of the japanese commercials, those are too funny.
and you know what enterprise is giving you "the show"

for example, on the episodes of "MONSTER" the sole sponsor is "Shogakukan" and this guys sells manga, books, toys, videogames etc, so the block of commercials are completely over shogakukan stuff.

and sometimes they show commercials of really cool anime that is unknown here.

I think if we are going to enjoy a stolen signal of a show, at least let them make you promotion of their product that maybe you will buy someday.

On that i'm completely neutral. They don't bother me, and if they're missing I don't miss them. The Jubei-chan 2 ones at the end were cool tho.

So, there's something that works, but it's simple, and there's something else that works, but it takes more effort, so it's not l33t to use the simple/easy method?

Considering how simple the edit we're making is (cutting out a simple section post encoding), calling any method "newbie like" is insanely elitist, in my opinion. However, if you want to hold that opinion, please do not hold it after directly quoting me, as it insults myself and both the image I hold of you in my eyes.
Anyway, who said anything about editing together a TV program with VirtualDub? We have Final Cut Pro for that, heh.
