Episode 6...
PAIRING SET-UP IS IMPORTANT, OKAY? (It's my subjective thing but I tend to share Shima's opinion. The opposite is just not beautiful. Hey, nobody said it had to make any logical sense. ) Anyway inside jokes aside (so, so on-point XD), this whole story is so cute and it goes a long way to show what makes Shima and her relationship with Kae tick. Also I love how it confirms that Shima is a legit suitor herself, with legit romantic feelings for Kae, instead of dismissing her as just a friend who is playing an ultimately "harmless" joke. But... going by the preview, they're really skipping the intro arcs. WHY. :/ Mutsumi's arc is perfect. Nana's and Shinomiya's arcs are cute. And they all help rounding them out as characters and making them more likeable, and showing how their feelings are not shallow either. It's especially ridiculous since it appears they went out of their way to give Igarashi his episode, but then skipped the rest... Mutsumi's arc was supposed to be important, damn it, and they just blew it right aside and used only its punchline. -_-) I guess they're really trying to make Igarashi the preferred guy... poor Mutsumi. Well, it's still posible they use Mutsumi arc for the end. After all, Kazuma Mutsumi will appear at some point (his seiyuu has been announced). In theory, they can handle the next episode without this interfering with Mutsumi's arc. |

Oh, really? I missed that info. That's good news, although I have no idea how they could finish that arc, given that they pretty much used up its punchline in this episode... Then again, what with how half-assed the production seems to be, maybe they'll just reuse it.

I have read manga chapters that Episode 7 is likely to cover. It does not seem difficult for them to locate this episode before Asuma Mutsumi arc. Asuma Mutsumi discovered a lot of things during his arc, which complement what happens in this episode. However, he would probably behave pretty similar in episode 7 even without all that he discovered in his arc. |

I was thinking more about the aftermath, which I can't go into here because of spoilers. Kae's revelation about her "special person" in this episode was supposed to go there. |

FINALLY! My other ship has finally shown its roots. Yeah, that's IgarashiXShima... as this episode has shown, Igarashi really understands Shima. Like I could understand how Senpai got Serinuma to go out shopping with him, but Igarashi asking Shima? That was like magic. Can't help that the spiesl Igarashi laid on Shima both after the 'meeting' and Serinuma's loss really affected Shima. They should just forget about Serinuma and just hang out together.
Honestly though, as a het shipper, this 'who is on top' business is WAY beyond my league. Like for me, AxB and BxA is such a tiny difference that I welcome both; at least both sides understand the pairing, unlike all the other heretical infidels who can't see the light XD. I think it's also confined to eastern fujoshis, as I personally never encountered 'shipping civil war' like this with western slashers. Or maybe I just don't hang out with them as much as I used to...

Episodes 7 and 8:
Glad that both Asuma Mutsumi and Nozomu Nanashima got their chance to shine for Kae Serinuma on their respective episodes. Still, I feel that she's leaning towards Yuusuke Igarashi but I feel that Kae's fujoshi tendencies is holding her feelings back. |

It will just be sad if they go down the cliché route of having Kae fall for Igarashi, who is too stereotypical shoujo bishie - and for some reason I just don't like him. He comes off as too superficial to me. I still vote for Matsumi. I'd give the producers/mangaka a pat on the back if they went the less typical route and have Kae fall for Matsumi - the only good guy from start to finish.
I wonder if Japanese taste for guys differ from the West? I know in certain cases it appears to be different - wonder about the guys in this series?

So I'm catching up with the anime, and... well... as much as I appreciate finally seeing the Mutsumi story, and enjoy hearing Nakamura Yuuichi in this role, I just feel kind of bitter.
So many things just make no sense if you start paying attention. - Why would Mutsumi, who only a few episodes ago undressed Kae and cuddled her (in a platonic way or not) be now embarrassed to hold her hand? "Suddenly realizing the depth of his feelings" is not a good explanation, not after all that went down before. - Why would Nana, who only a few episodes ago assaulted (while not being fully conscious, but still) Kae, then felt like crap about it, suddenly be all "ohoho I'll hug you to make you feel safe"? - Why would Kae, totally into KachuRabu since the early episodes, suddenly go gaga over merch for MiraSaga, a show she's not into anymore - to the point where Nana even felt disadvantaged because she no longer cared about the character he resembled. - Why is the gang starting to wonder about Mutsumi's feelings for Kae now, instead of at the time when Mutsumi and Kae were in fact separated from them, in a situation where, for all they know, all sorts of stuff (mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, etc.) could have happened? Etc. The reason being, of course, that this story is supposed to have happened a LOT earlier than all those other stories, when the characters were still at a different point in their life, both in characterization and their relationship with Kae. What I'm trying to say is, sure, this is not a story with deep and nuanced characterization and character arcs. But this sort of blatant disregard of it, the disrespect for and apparent non-interest in the source material, and the apparent "eh, it will be good enough" attitude just really rubs me the wrong way. |
