Actually I think there is a fan remake of Buck Rogers set after the First World War (than to the 25th Century). By the same people that make Star Trek: Phase II.
I remember seeing a teaser of sorts (with the stars of the 1980 Buck Rogers as "Buck's" parents in the early days of the First World War) and some special effects trailer (modern computer graphics....1930's rocket ships)...but nothing else that I am aware of.

Just saw this. Besides the obvious and some subtle parodies there is suprisingly little straight humor in the movie. I think they could have added more sitcom-like cheap humor in places, the setting would be perfect for it and there's a bunch of uninteresting scenes that could've been reworked. But then I guess it wouldn't be the unique campy movie it is now...I've never seen anything quite like Iron Sky.
The designs and general visual presentation was my favourite thing about this movie, especially the over-the-top steampunk nazi machinery, the uniforms and the way their culture is presented.

Finally got around to seeing this movie.
It was alright. Funny in places. Though I have a feeling some of the humor would be more appreciated in Europe than in America. The ride of funny verse not funny (anymore, meaning tired political jokes or things that might be funnier in Finland) was all over the place. The setting and style is alot better than the humor. Probably too much swearing, but that seems to be normal for this production group (seeing parts of Star Wreck as an example). Their special effects designs are fine (if somewhat over the top...especially the Space Zepplins). I already knew they did good work there, and was even more surprised as the air combat and space combat kicked into high gear. The ending is very European from my observation.

I thought it was sort of mediocre. If it weren't for the setting being inherently hilarious I would've called it a crappy movie. But when you're talking about space Nazis you kinda have to lower the bar a bit.
Also, funny how the people in the moon base could still breathe despite there being no small number of holes in their ceilings. |

No stranger than the secret "Earth Fleet".
I was more suprised that no one noticed the Nazi ships and craft approach Earth. The anti-sci-fi style combat space buffs always say we should be able to spot all that heat movement as far away as Pluto, much less the Moon.
