i came with strong apprehension of not liking it (for me it was a "is this worth adapting over progressive" since i'm a progressive fan and don't know alternative)
well i quite liked it, especially after finishing fatal bullet not long ago it felt quite nice (if only we could have battle royal pvp in FB ) i just want to say one thing : bright flashy pink uniform is not a disadvantage only in a forest but pretty anywhere on a battlefield you know ? |

I like it, I'm not very versed in SAO, but I know the enough. Also with a bit of MMORPG slang.
Well, without original MC and the rest is a better experience, of somehow they ruin the experience for me, and if the characters ruin don't appeal to you is done. Yep, I'm a simple otaku-person with simple taste and a loli rabbit MC is enough good for me but lol it stand out like a sore thumb is this setting, specially beside M, I suppose than that was the intention. I don't have anything against have a cute avatar in this kind a game, damn, if I could I have a loli avatar too. I think that MC put all or the biggest part in AGI or some like that? I don't think that she can resist a hit of anything. The fuck matters, is cute. |

Having one of SAO's settings without the incredibly high stakes mean we shouldn't have to worry as much about the protagonists being incredibly OP or needing to have thick plot armor. Seems like this should be more similar to Gundam Build Fighters, so I'll stick with it for now.

If the writing is smart, there's no need for OP bullshit and plot armor even if the stakes are high. Besides, LN writers don't make their protagonists like that because they need to. They do it because it's a form of pandering, the whole power fantasy and wish-fulfillment thing.

SAO without Kirito means I might actually like it, but it's hard for me to really say with how dull the first episode was. It was just a combat mechanics episode that told you almost virtual nothing about story or it's characters in it. I'm much more into characterization and plot and than simply pure combat so the best part of the episode for me was that the end where got glimpse of the person behind our heroine's avatar. Hopefully the next week will be more about that and other characters otherwise the audiovisuals are only things the show going for me right now.

As someone who's been playing valkyria chronicles lately, I couldn't help but smile when a grenade was thrown and lots of people got sniped. Never does it not feel great.
Having said that, the episode, while not bad, also wasn't that great, mostly because of how slow thje first part was, and as others have mentioned, we haven't gotten to see most of the cast yet, so we really don't know what type of series this will end up being, but I Guess that's a reason to watch some more. Our protagonist looks fine, and I like her having super speed as an ability, but I need to get a better grip on her. |

It is also interesting how the real soldiers actually participated in the tournament.
This GGO must have been this useful for the military, and it looked little too useful, but the military does not want to practice with supernatural cases, so they just gave up, but they basically won the whole thing in terms of scores. The authors and its illustrators really nailed it with the main character's avatar and real life appearance. And thank the anime staffs for this. Though maybe this is something we see every day. It is not just a little girl with pink rabbit looking that seems cute, which that also makes her in real life really cute as well, being shy about showing to her friends the records of how her team won one of the tournament in GGO. I hope the series shows more of the real life world as well. |

It supposed to be desert pink, but I think they made it brighter on screen for the sake of visual appeal. On the other hand, Karen just chose it because she wanted to be as cute as possible, so its benefits or lack thereof on a battlefield weren't uppermost on her mind.

Maybe it's like a game mechanics tradeoff - in order to use a small avatar that's harder to hit, you're forced to wear a flashy outfit.
As if. A problem I have with every incarnation of SAO is that the technology being used and the games being played can't withstand even the most shallow analysis by a viewer, without seeming implausible and totally inconsistent. Log Horizon is much better in this regard, even though it's still a heavily romanticized representation of gaming. For me, the redeeming thing about SAO was the incorporation of real-life drama, so there's hoping that this season will be carried by that as well.

She wouldn't get such high level agility points without doing lot of fighting for one. Well her GGO proves will be probably explained retrospectively so that's only argument I will say now..
M is more experienced and skilled player then her especially in team battles as she usually solo, that much is true though.

I read the novels after seeing the first episode. The anime obviously wants to start with a bang but that means skipping over a lot of the setup in the first novel. I presume this will be shown to some degree or another in some flashbacks or the like. Since the end of ep 1 says that ep 2 is called GGO, perhaps they'll put all the setup in that episode and then return to the Squad Jam plot from ep 3.
Anyway, we can at least tell the following from the episode in isolation: LLENN's first choice was not to participate in Squad Jam (instead it was a concert in RL). She has obviously been in GGO long enough to have a customised wardrobe and gun (at least in terms of colouring). She has a speed optimised build and gun. She clearly has combat experience though isn't used to something like Squad Jam. She doesn't seem to have much experience working with M. Finally, going by the last scene, there's a large gap between how she comes across in the game and in RL. |
