Good episode. Glad to see they fit the side chapter into it instead of leaving it as BD bonus material.
Next episode will be many lols and lolis. And naked lolis. And based on the preview, very likely only a single chapter again, so it definitely isn't going to be covering the entirety of 2wei by episode 10. |

Hmm... Illya may have been on edge, but this certainly makes it seem a lot more blatant that this particular incident happened because Ruby's a jerk. Kuro was behaving herself. Things only got out of hand because Ruby goaded Illya into making this a fight.

Good episode. What an intense game of dodge ball. I also like that they gave the nurse a fair amount of screen time and gave a fair amount of focus to all three of our favorite lolis. Shiro appearing is nice too.
Dat end card. After seeing that I doubt many people are walking away and are still somehow not lolicons.

This was a pretty meh episode. Taiga was pretty funny but Illya's friends fell rather flat in the humor department (the scene with them and Caren went on for way to long). Speaking of Caren, they really want us to know that she likes treating severe injuries. They killed the joke here where it was actually kind of funny when they introduced her.
That being said, the conversation between her and Kuro sure raised some eyebrows, as well as what she said about "The miracle, the happenstance, and the inevitable." And I wonder what Miyu and Kuro were upset about at the end... So all-in-all, the majority of the episode contained boring humor, however it had brief moments of intrigue. End card was nice, though. The episode preview looks so interesting, too. Hot spring episodes are so riveting, aren't they? |

35 pages is certainly too little to be stretched out into a full episode, which made this one feels a lot sluggish than the manga counterpart.
Not sure why they want to do single chapter again though, ch8 is a decent stopping point, so I guess they may remove chapter 12?

Yeah, can't help feeling some sympathy there for Kuro. At least seemed to be just enjoying herself in the game and at school before Illya turned it into a fight. Already was a weak move to get out on purpose and pretty much leave it Kuro vs everyone else, although Kuro could easily handle it. Certainly Ruby pushed her, but it really didn't take much for Illya to pick that fight. I'd say a lot on Ruby, but also a lot on Illya.
Of course with the whole trying to kill her thing I can understand not being happy to have her around. But at this point she really is only looking at her own perspective and hasn't bothered to try and understand Kuro. The scene at the end of that nurse bit really said a lot. Both Miyu and Kuro for their own reasons looking very alone there. We don't know what's up with Miyu's background, though can certainly get a feel for why Kuro looked down. Illya has Shirou there. The fact that the first thing she did after breaking out was go to spend time with him does mean something. It did feel like they were stretching things out a bit too much this time. They clearly have a stopping point in mind for these 10 episodes and will make sure to hit it. Bit of a step back, but some good scenes still.

A lot of foreshadowing in this episode, both about Kuro and Miyu, both of them show a rather strong reaction to family, Miyu especially. Especially good seeing more depth being added to Kuro's character. Both Kuro and Miyu definitely are hiding something and clearly feel rather alone about it, looking forward to seeing it explored more deeply.
They have to be split couring this, they're going to have enough trouble reaching halfway with just 10 episodes, much less finishing. Even if they cut out the filler chapters. |
