November 14th, 1986
A couple weeks after her disappearance, Jessica Ushiromiya sent me a personal letter, remembering me from our interrogation meetings. She asked me not to share this with the police, which isn’t much of a problem now since I was kicked off the investigation since the last log I wrote.
Dear Mr. Hotake,
I’m sorry for running off like that with Ange first of all. You have to understand, after she told me about Battler’s letter I was worried that she would be interrogated rigorously. The three of us could take it, but Ange is just a little kid. Trust me though, if I knew where Battler was the first thing I would do is punch him for leaving Ange alone the way he did! I won’t tell you where I’m sending this from, but I promise you we’re both safe and surviving.
You’re probably wondering how we’re surviving though. Despite getting most of the inheritance from my dad that money is with mom’s parents. I’m actually living off the gold. You’re investigating the murders so I’m sure you know the legend of the hidden gold. Well it does exist – George actually found it through a note he received from Eva, he told us. I won’t tell you where it is though, so sorry~
In any case, we don’t really know much about the murders. Although I will admit that I am not as innocent as I appear and neither were Battler or George. We…did something terrible let’s say. Several things that probably got your investigation all messed up. I tried to stop George but he refused to let down, so Battler and I helped in hopes he would get it together. Obviously that didn’t happen and he committed suicide.
I need to go and pick Ange up from daycare now. I won’t be writing you again, but good luck. But as George told you, investigating is pointless. After all a ‘witch’ came and messed you all up before you even began.

Spoiler for The Culprit/Killer List:
The Culprits:
• Kanon.
Kanon is the ‘Culprit by Unfortunate Circumstances’ in a way. He does not plan on any murders he committed and majorly killed out of anger. On the 1st twilight he learned of Eva’s plan to kill everyone and then of similar plans from Kyrie. He decides then to exact murders in the name of Beatrice against all of them. Kanon killed: Eva, Rudolf, Kyrie (first time), Kumasawa, Gohda and himself.
• Kyrie
Kyrie originally planned on killing in a different manner. She had employed Kumasawa and Gohda, both who betrayed her, to poison snacks that were to be delivered on the 1st twilight to the parents. However, something went wrong. Mainly the fact that her original supporter, Rudolf, had decided to back down against the plans and did not give Gohda the vial of poison for the food (the bottle that was found in his pocket via the corpse examination). Kyrie killed: Hideyoshi, Genji, Krauss and Rosa.
Killers:
• Rosa
Rosa was considered an innocent on an island full of murder. However, in her last acts she shot the killing blow against her own murderer.
Rosa killed: Kyrie.
• Krauss
A conspirator with Eva, Krauss was the ring leader in their group. He had employed Gohda and Kumasawa on higher pay than Kyrie and promised them some gold from the hidden stash. He also had employed Eva, with the promise of not only giving her the gold but allowing George to become the Ushiromiya Head over himself or even Jessica. This was a securely made promise within the note he gave to her, along with the chapel key and a purple key to the Golden Land. However, his plans were led astray by his lack of action and fear of being caught, especially by his wife who had witnessed him committing murder.
Krauss killed: Nanjo
• Gohda
Like Kumasawa, he had two-timed Kyrie originally, but after the 4th twilight she convinced him to come and work for her once more. Greed is a powerful thing and hard to manage. His greed got the best of him, when he believed killing a small child would earn him praise.
Gohda killed: Kinzo and Maria.
• Maria
Due to an accident, Maria became a killer. She asked for forgiveness but did not receive any – not from Kanon or Gohda. Ah, but Beatrice forgives the child~
Maria killed: Shannon
• Natsuhi
Not technically a killer, per se, Natsuhi ended up taking her own life. She refused to be a show for the witch any longer.
Natsuhi killed: Herself
Conspirators: Krauss and Eva.
Accomplices/Back stabbers: Gohda and Kumasawa
Spoiler for Twilight Summaries:
1st twilight.
• Eva leaves parlor after arguing with George and tells Kumasawa to serve the tea. She also tells Kumasawa that she plans to kill Kyrie and Rudolf, as Kumasawa told her about their plans.
• Eva goes back to the parlor and waits there.
• At one point Eva begins to doze off. When she does so Kanon enters quietly and takes Eva’s knife.
• Eva wakes up and Kanon stabs her.
• Kumasawa serves the tea and while she does so Kyrie takes Rudolf out of the dining room. She explains to him that they should not drink the tea, but Rudolf tells her he was never planning to.
• After a good 20 minutes later everyone begins falling asleep. Kyrie decides to leave to find Nanjo.
• While Kyrie is out Kanon comes into the dining room and kills Rudolf
• Kyrie goes to the kitchen, unable to find Nanjo, and Kumasawa isn’t there. She takes a knife.
• She goes to the parlor and finds Eva dead.
• She runs to the dining room and finds Rudolf dead.
• She goes to leave, deciding to leave to the guest house, but Kanon confronts her. She realizes that she forgot her knife in the dining room in the midst of panic and runs away.
• Kanon ends up taking a shortcut and catches up to her as she gets to the kitchen. The kitchen is now locked as Kumasawa returned to it.
• Kanon stabs her in the stomach, but she is able to push back against the door enough so it doesn’t penetrate deep enough. Kumasawa does not go out to assist Kyrie because she is under the impression that Eva is killing her and not Kanon.
• Kanon drags Kyrie away from the outside of the kitchen and takes her outside by the shed. He then goes back to the parlor and does the same with Eva.
• Kanon decides to move the bodies to the beach, starting with Eva’s.
• While he was moving Kyrie’s body (after finishing with Eva) Kumasawa woke up Krauss in the dining room. She tells him that Eva killed Kyrie and Rudolph, not actually knowing for sure, and Krauss leaves the room to get Nanjo.
• Nanjo has finished his game with Kinzo and leaves the study. As he leaves Gohda slips in and shoots Kinzo with the silenced pistol. Nanjo hears it but believes it to be something falling due to the light noise.
• Nanjo goes downstairs and is met by Krauss. He is then led to the dining room and figures out that everyone was drugged. He tells Krauss that they would most likely wake up within a few hours. Krauss then kills Nanjo, using the knife Kumasawa gave him.
• As he kills Nanjo, Natsuhi wakes up and sees him. But she quickly loses consciousness again. Krauss contemplates killing her, but decides to give her the benefit of the doubt and thinks that he can make her believe it was a nightmare.
• Krauss and Gohda then meet up to carry Kinzo’s body. They leave the mansion, along with Kumasawa.
• Kanon returns from wheeling the body and goes back to the dining room because he wanted to kill some sleeping people. He then sees Nanjo dead and decides to wheel him to the beach as well.
• Krauss and Gohda finish moving Kinzo and Kumasawa, who went into the dining room a while after Kanon moved Nanjo out of the mansion, tells them that Eva took Nanjo to the beach. Krauss decides to leave the last two murders to Eva, knowing she wanted to kill Shannon and Kanon, and goes back to the dining room to sleep. Gohda goes back to his room in the mansion and Kumasawa is left to patrol the garden, for her alibi, as the note stated she should.
• Shannon comes to the garden, after helping George discover the gold, and sees Kumasawa. She is rushed off though by the old woman.
• Kanon then comes back from wheeling Nanjo, but is seen by Kumasawa with the wheelbarrow. He then kills her and is seen by Shannon doing so.
• Kanon wheels Kumasawa to the beach, and at that point realizes Eva is still alive. They talk for a while and he kills her. Shannon witnessed this as well.
• Kanon returns to the mansion, while Shannon gets Genji from the guest hotel and they both go to the beach.
• Shannon paints Kumasawa’s eyes over with red paint, deciding that not doing so would endanger Kanon, as people would believe the killer was 'kinder' to Kumasawa.
2nd Twilight
• Maria, Shannon and Kanon go outside to the rose garden.
• Shannon tells Kanon that she saw him killing Eva and Kumasawa and asks him if she would be killed for it.
• Kanon breaks down and promises Shannon that he wouldn’t hurt anyone on the island anymore.
• Maria finds the pistol Gohda dropped while carrying Kinzo and shoots Shannon with it, believing it to be a toy.
• Kanon becomes infuriated and knocks out Maria with the gun. He decides against killing her, remembering his promise to Shannon.
• He then finds the chapel key in Shannon’s pockets and takes Maria to the chapel, believing she would be safe there.
• Kanon goes back to the spot where Shannon died and attempts suicide. He did not die and wakes up later in the parlor after the 4th twilight ended.
4th Twilight
• Kyrie wakes up and Hideyoshi sees her.
• He runs out of the parlor to get some painkillers and is seen by Genji as the latter is preparing to leave the mansion. Hideyoshi does not see Genji.
• Hideyoshi returns to Kyrie and gives her the pills.
• He then mourns over Eva and implies to Kyrie that he was going to tell everyone that she was alive.
• Kyrie then smashes a vase over his head and gouges him with one of the broken pieces.
• She hides his gun and the vase pieces, falling asleep again.
• After moving Shannon and Kanon’s bodies when Krauss and Gohda leave Genji realizes Kanon is alive and talks with him. He takes the chapel key from Shannon then and leaves.
• Gohda then returns as Genji leaves and takes a knife from the kitchen. He goes back to the parlor to stab all the 1st twilight corpses but he sees Kyrie breathing. He wakes her up and she tells him that she would pay him double to help her. He agrees and informs her about Krauss’s plans.
• Gohda stabs the other corpses and leaves.
5th Twilight
• Before the Twilight began, Rosa was outside searching around the area for Maria. She had given up at one point and returned to the guest hotel. When she went inside Krauss and Natsuhi were already asleep.
• She was falling asleep and didn’t notice Gohda coming in and taking her gun. She noticed he was leaving the guest hotel, but didn’t see her gun was gone.
• After Rosa fell asleep Genji decided to follow Gohda into the mansion. He also took a first aid kit from Nanjo’s room to treat Kanon.
• Inside the mansion Gohda joined Kyrie. Genji went into the parlor and bandaged up Kanon. They both realized Kyrie was gone from the room and, as Kanon suspected, she was still alive.
• Genji left Kanon to get pain killers from the infirmary but when he went to the 2nd floor he was told to enter the 2nd floor honored guest room by Kyrie.
• Kyrie then explained to him that she was going to kill him, but ordered him to charge at her and try and stop her from pulling the trigger. She didn’t want him to just stand and die.
• He charged at her as ordered and she shot him in the chest. She then told Gohda to put Rosa’s Winchester by the corpse in order to make it look like Rosa did it.
• Kanon heard the shot from the parlor and decided to search for Genji because of it.
• By the time he was able to get to the staircase though Gohda was already out of the mansion and Kyrie was hiding in one of the other rooms.
• Kyrie ordered Gohda to come to the mansion with the others eventually, but Gohda never returned to the guest hotel.
• He saw Genji dead in the room and realized the chapel key was gone now. He left the mansion himself.
6th Twilight
• A while after Natsuhi entered the mansion Kyrie decided to lure the three to the room. She went back into the room where Genji was and saw Gohda under the window like she asked.
• She locked the door to the room and then shot a round out of the open window. She then jumped out the window and was caught by Gohda. The window was not closed up.
• The two of them went into the boiler room, so Gohda could burn Kinzo’s body. Kyrie hid in the boiler room.
• Kanon then entered the boiler room, seeing Kyrie and Gohda enter from the outside, and snuck inside.
• Gohda had to put down the pistol to move the body into the furnace and when he did so Kanon picked it up. Kyrie would have called out, but she was afraid of dying.
• Kanon and Gohda talked and Gohda revealed he had given a roofie to Maria while he was away. Kanon shoots him in anger, as Gohda implies the dosage was enough to kill her.
• Kanon leaves the boiler room, acknowledging Kyrie’s presence but deciding not to do anything about her, due to his promise with Shannon.
7th Twilight
• Krauss, who had been suspicious of Rosa due to Maria’s sudden disappearance and Genji’s death, realized Rosa was most likely not the culprit on his way to the boiler room.
• When he went inside the boiler room he saw Gohda and Eva’s pistol, which Kanon discarded because there were no more bullets in it. He noticed Kanon at the top of the other entrance.
• He was ready to follow but Kyrie then stopped him, coming from the shadows and pointing her Winchester at Krauss’s back.
• Krauss admitted what he had done and made a plea to Kyrie to spare Natsuhi and Rosa, along with the children. He claimed that they were innocent of all atrocities and didn’t deserve death. Kyrie said she would consider.
• At that time Rosa came to the boiler room and banged on the door to signal Krauss. Kyrie decided to shoot him and possibly Rosa, if she couldn’t be outrun.
• Kyrie shot Krauss and left the boiler room from the other exit as Kanon did.
8th Twilight
• At this time Maria had succumbed to the drug and died from the overdose.
9th Twilight
• Rosa caught up to Kyrie. However, she gave the latter the benefit of the doubt. Kyrie said that she would take Rosa to Maria and Rosa agreed.
• They got to the chapel, which Gohda left unlocked and found Maria on the carpet ground dead.
• Kyrie then explained that Kanon and Krauss were the ones who committed the murders. She also told Rosa that she had faked her death in order to work from the shadows to kill them and told her she murdered both of them. Kyrie then said that the three of the remaining parents could now split the fortune three-ways and offered that alliance with Rosa.
• However, Rosa noticed a flaw in Kyrie’s story. She said that she wasn’t in the boiler room and followed Krauss in there and shot him, however she knew that Kanon killed Gohda. If that was true then Kyrie saw Gohda being killed by Kanon. There is also the issue that Kyrie knew Maria was in the chapel to begin with,
• Kyrie and Rosa then shot at each other. Rosa was shot dead in the stomach and Kyrie was shot in her arm. Kyrie ended up attacking Rosa’s corpse and then left the chapel and went back to the mansion. She was killed by Rosa from the gun shot and died in the parlor.
• Meanwhile, Natsuhi is in the study room alone. She finds a note hidden under Kinzo’s papers and realizes that Kinzo truly was killed and she was lied to.
• She then remembers seeing her husband killing Nanjo. However, her paranoia gets the best of her and she refuses to believe it, thinking Beatrice the Witch is playing a trick on her.
• She becomes angry and refuses to be a show of amusement for the witch. She then opens the window and falls out, committing suicide.
10th Twilight
• After midnight the children are in the guest hotel. Jessica awakens and demands they go to the mansion. Battler and George agree.
• When they went outside they found Kanon dead in the rose garden. He died officially in the 9th twilight. George takes his knife and the chapel key inside of his pockets.
• They then find Natsuhi on the ground below the window of Kinzo’s study, bloody and dead. Battler declares it a suicide, because the window is open, but George claims it is a trick that the witch is using against them.
• George and Battler go into the servant’s room of the mansion. Meanwhile, Jessica takes the study key from her mother’s dress and goes into the study. She closes the windows and locks up the room, hoping that no one would disgrace her mother’s death with the label of a suicide because of it.
• George and Battler change into servant garbs and wrap Natsuhi’s body in garbage bags. They then carry her to the location of where the shrine was once located. Before they come there George took the lighter from his father’s pocket.
• They throw Natsuhi’s body into the ocean and light it on fire, knowing that the body would never be recovered.
• George then goes to the chapel in order to show Jessica and Battler the gold. However, when they go there they find Maria and Rosa dead.
• They decide to hide both bodies inside the Golden Land room, where George shows them all the gold. He tells them that this is the reason why he believes Beatrice caused everything: because this gold is proof she exists.
• On the evening of October 16th, 1986, Battler revisits Rokkenjima while detectives are off the island. He does his own investigating for a couple hours and then leaves the island with four gold bricks. He gives one away to the ship captain, who helped him get to the island. He does not return home afterwards.
• On October 20th, 1986, George commits suicide by drowning himself in the ocean.
• On November 4th, 1986, Jessica and Ange Ushiromiya disappear.
I shall retire now. If you have any questions or what not feel free to ask here. I'll post the answer arc within the next couple days.
1st twilight... omg so complicated... 3 groups of killers lol... and Kanon did all this while not insane?
Hearing the reason why it was Natsuhi who wakes up is all of a sudden more clear >.< idk why I never considered that...although I didn't know for sure it was Krauss killing >.<
btw didn't Krauss leave the guesthouse in the 5th twilight?
and idk if burning bodies would smell that strongly after a few minutes lol unless there was something like a fan or air conditioning going on.
and yes Rosa/Kyrie/Kanon finishes the killing.
It was a mistake to think the survivors had nothing to do with hiding the bodies >.<
Whoa the game is over already! Damn it... i didn't have time to actually help a lot!
Hm~ then answers weren't that difficult but the details~ damn it! Hope you guys are able to solve my riddle at least
But I'm still curious what happened to Battler, jessica and Ange?
