Really?
The only thing they didn't change about Louise's return home is the actual boat scene itself. Everything else is about as rushed and twisted as it gets from the novel. I know the anime was created with a focus on "love comedy", but at this rate, I'm willing to bet that little to none of the breathtaking heavy dramas from the great war will survive the anime transition (the Henrietta & Wales episode still left a little bit of hope in me). Spoiler:
I'm sure the anime watchers will get a good smirk out of this one, but for a die hard novel fan like me, it's not a great sign of things to come. Next week looks to be another anime original, will it get any better? Last edited by Sushi-Y; 2007-07-29 at 21:23. |

OO I love this episode! so many kisses!XD! I like the way they do the scene between loiuse and saito(you can see all the perspectives of the boat...)Now that I think on it the first scene of the openining in first season was louise and saito kiss in the boat... One thing that is strange in this episode is when saito runs off louise's house that he jumps("flies") and catch louise, that her parents are looking at them, they're like oo good one!and his father only attacks him one time when he's far away..the anime staff could put a white tissue in their hands and make they say good bye and good voyage! and the mother is all the time o.o... XD! HERE ALL THE SCENE:::
but I like the epsiode and saito and louise are sooo cute in the carriage^^! Last edited by Meichy; 2007-07-30 at 07:28. |

While this might not really live up to the novel, I definitely enjoyed it. I don't recall any mention of "hard", though I might have missed it... But I must admit I liked how Louise somehow decided to "reward" Saito by, if I understood it correctly, telling him he could touch any part of his mistress's body he wants. Particularly with her expression upon stating the reward and then her goofy grin after the interruption. And as far as the suggestion that they will "do it", I'd say it's pretty obvious both parties were ready and probably trying at that particular time. After all, I recall the sword saying "So close, partner, just a little longer and..."
I'll admit, though I haven't read the novels I would like to see this more serious, I do enjoy the humor too. That said, one thing I've learned about anime is it really isn't that hard for a story to suddenly jump from light to dark. One major event and there'll be no way back. It seems like the writers are just trying to switch a little more slowly, all the while exploiting any opportunity possible to continue their fanservice. And I think they'll be able to pull off at least some level of serious conflict within such an ecchi universe. I've seen plenty shows with tense danger along with more pantsu than you can count. God, I can't belive how much I enjoyed this episode. Also, what a great way to introduce Lousie's sisters. Spoiler for fanart:
*still in shock at what happened in the boat.* Wonder what would have happened if her parents weren't there.

Siesta underwent so many personality changes. From passive to weird to path of agression.
I still think SiestaXSaito is best. Extra: The Margery Daw version is here! (Eleonore) Both are blonde, both have anger problems, extra large busts and same VA, I think.
