I also got the feeling it was suppose to be Poco.
But just going to echo Guardian Enzo here, so much emotional punch for a 12 episode anime. It was definitely one of the anime's I really looked forward to watching each week, and it shall be missed.

The scene with his dad was the ultimate gut punch for me.
Everything I did wasn't able to keep the tears back. At the start, I didn't really expect anything about the show. I thought of it as Flying Witch in Kagawa. But as soon as the first few episodes showed Souta's family background, I thought of it as a light-and-shadow experience with Sangatsu no Lion. In Udon no Kuni's case, it portrayed a more eager protagonist in resolving the problems he had during his childhood, while Sangatsu was more gloomy in general. Although one can clearly see the level of promotion for certain tourist sites in Kagawa, it is also easy to understand the story and relate to Souta's problems... all of them, in fact. It's too bad that I wasn't able to watch Udon no Kuni and Sangatsu together to appreciate the contrasts, but I guess it's inevitable considering Sangatsu's two-cour schedule. Now that I got floored by Udon no Kuni's finale, I'm already worried about the upcoming finale of Hibike! Euphonium 2.

Thought it was an okay series.
The last part in episode 12 was a nice touch, but felt a little cheap. Kind of mad at Souta at what an idiot he is, it didn't look like the family was that distant or had a bad relationship with eachother. Then Souta decides to go off to learn and do his tech job, and never sees or talks to his dad again for 10 or so years till he hears the dad died and only comes back to sort things out? what?

that was an emotional finale. Everything came together nicely at the end, especially revisiting the accident so now we know why poco came in sota's life & then it going ahead with covering parts with the father. The reveal of poco with a tail wasn't really a dramatic issue as the end of previous episode hinted, and that's fine . A little disappointed since poco doesn't exist in real life and there's no magical medicine for lessening regrets, but I can't hold that against the show XD a very wonderful series that manages to pull the heartstrings & be comfortingly entertaining at the same time. Very well made in every department, music- art -backgrounds- script and all, so kudos to the staff. Might be biased a bit, but final rating is 8/10 (which is like only the 3rd 8 I've had for 2016 anime from what I've watched). a very worthwhile series in the end. Edit: Oh can't forget gaogaochan shorts, those were fun too!
