Spoiler for Vol 14 huge spoilers:

Yaichi proposed to Ginko but they kind of broke up. Ginko had a heart condition that was already cured when she was little but she had another condition that would make her not suitable to be a professional shogi player. She became ill after the 3 dan league and can’t continue playing shogi for probably a long time. Ginko thought Yaichi would give up on the happy future he envisioned once he found out about her condition and so she left him. She asked to wait for her until she recovers so that she can play against Yaichi and give her answer.

Ai had come to like shogi for real and she realized shogi is not just fun but also scary. Staying with Yaichi would only cause her to continue to think shogi as something fun to do with him. She felt she couldn’t continue to grow with such mindset and so decided to separate from Yaichi. She is now affiliated with the Kanto branch of the shogi association.

Ten-chan is now on the offensive now that Yaichi lost both Ai and Ginko. Machi is also about to make a big move as shown in the last pic.

What a way to start the final arc.

It's been a while since author switched audience.

Vol 16 will be released in April and a lot of things will happen in the volume.

Ai will have her first title match, challenging Rina (Eternal Queen) for her title. This is going to be Ai’s toughest official match since Rina at her best is capable of giving Ginko a hard time.

Ten-chan (Ai #2) will have title matches for the two female titles that Ginko relinquished. She will face against the same person for both titles. Ten-chan’s opponent is unknown as she is shown for the first time in a pic in Vol 16. Most likely she is the girl in Shoureikai named Karen who is the highest ranked female in Shoureikai after Ginko. It’s interesting to see how well Ten-chan will do against someone currently 2-dan which is Ginko’s rank in the beginning of the series.

Natagiri will play against Meijin for the title. He and Tamayon are dating now and he might propose after winning the Meijin title.

Ayumu who got promoted to A-class in Meijin tournament proposed to someone unknown at the end of Vol 15, but will be revealed in Vol 16. Popular theory by fans is that it is Rina.

Final volume is confirmed to be the Vol.20 for the end of the series.

So two books left for the end.
Could it be because of the quick drop of sales? Hope it gets a proper closure at least and avoids at all costs a lame "but the adventure keeps going on!' type of open ending.
