From how you base many scenes off the movies. How you try to push the technology to cutting edge. Recreation of tension in scenes that really do remind me of gundam. Lot of instances really, but can't put my finger on each and every one. Military drama is pretty standard stuff but super prototype coming to save the day really just makes me think gundam.

I am pretty sure there is one or two basic machine somewhere.

You can't possibly be saying my unit's the first of their kind in the animeworld, are you? Sure, I thought up of the plot and shamelessy copied some scenes off Gundam. Then again, honestly speaking, the initial inspiration for Athena came from Gundam Seed Stargazer.

All Ibm seriously sayiung is that Noa is an endgame machine. Athena crossing time and space makes it likewise. Recreating gundam atmosphere is difficult only because the source of tension there is hard to locate for me.

Once I had a chat with my girl about the universe, and we came up with this theory that there's thousands of other universes out there which are merely dimensions, copies of the same world we live in, only advancing in different ways and time.

I was thinking to have Athena explore that, being a space-faring IS with the ability to enter hyperspace. At every hyperspace jump, the pilot may catch a glimpse of another version of the IS-verse (Akin to paying a visit to one of the countless of other AU fanfics.)

Bah, I guess I had to ditch the mirrorverse then

(Or maybe having Athena cameo somewhere)

I think I watched too much anime.

To be fair, those are fairly recent. I didn't watch much anime that are earlier than 90's.

Not always, but interspace-time combat happened in Bokurano, amongst abusive parents, child rape, teen bully etc

I swear Mohiro Kitoh hate children, he make Gen Urobutcher look tame in comparison.

Why ditch it? Different people have different theories on the universe. You could apply yours to your fic as well if you're planning to have a dimension-jumping unit, or a method to cross into different planes of existence.

Heck, my idea is still on hold until I could get other authors' approval to have their fic referenced.

Wouldn't Gurren Lagann fall into the group too? I recall them actually jumping into a different dimension somewhere towards the later arcs.
