Everything takes time ..even to fansub oldies like this fansubs
it took me 3 yrs to get 115 episodes of candy candy ^_^

I am the webmaster of the Unnoficial Website of Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken

I have the 2nd movie in japanese only and 3rd one with english subtitles. The first movie is just a remake of episode 2-3.

I had also started to translate the 37 mangas in english, but I ended up with problems with my server and Geocities isn't very the best server to host websites either :/

actually he did -- for the original DQ games... that's why Dragon Quest (1) Abel Yuusha has the Toriyama looks.

But Dai no Daibouken wasn't his design at all. The manga was by Riku Sanjo, Yujii Horii, ENIX, and one more... hehe it's been a long time.. and my mangas are continents apart from me now.

You know, many elements in the anime contributed to my liking it.

1. It's generic, but not super-generic. At least some things were unique.

I the reason I like it is because it fantastic character development -- for every character in the series

Oooohh... I must say this is really an oldie.

The manga ended ages ago, er in the 20th century.

Anyway, the manga is excellent. The story is well balanced with an excellent plot, good characters and an overwhelming bad ass villian at the end of the story. The arcs are well executed and the character development is very good too.

wanna be asking about the translation -- i haven't watched it, just scanned through them,...

why is MERA translated as flare?

i think MERA is just a chant for the spell. (specifically fire spell in this case)

later there will be stronger versions of MERA, such as MERAZOMA (from the finger), MERAMI, and uhmm... i forgot hahaha...

Probably a translator or someone on the team doesn't play Dragon quest or they took a cue from the English versions of the game. There isn't a reason why Mera should be translated since it's a type of spell (Mera, Merami, Merazoma).

But "flame" does sound better than "mera", because with "flame", you know exactly what spell is being performed. If we used "mera", some people might not get it if the animation isn't good enough.

O well. For the next release, we'll watch those details.

(What's with Japanese and long items, like tongues and tentacles?) 4. There was no cliffhanger ending.

WristBandMan Member Join Date: Jan 2004	yeah, Spoiler: For fire there's MERA, MERAMI, MERAZOMA, etc for ice there's HYADO, HYADARUK, HYADIN, MAHYADO air, theres, BAGI, BAGIKUROS flame there's GIRA, BAGIRAMA, BAGIRAGON explosions there IORA.. damn i forgot all of them names... exorcist t there's MAHOKATOR, MINAKATOR healing there's HOIMI, BEHOIMI, BEHOMA so that's why unless Spoiler: it is a generic name like Grand Cruss, Bloody Scraid, Haaken Distall, Avan Strash, Dragon Aura, Phoenix Wing, Kaiser Phoenix (hehe, very very high) or something, i thought spell names shouldn't be translated my 2 yens
