looks like hayate is going to stick around for a while, its going to have 52 episode.

but at the pace they are airing, its going to catch up to the manga pretty fast, so it might have an anime only end?

What the...I watched episode 10..wha..

So it seems this will be one of those the entire story is a show in the making(I have seen a few that reveal that at the end..not right in the middle). But instead of show, they said anime. So the characters know they are drawn and know they are an anime about an anime..my head hurts.

Right before the opening, Maria says Kenjirou Hata planned the episode and he speaks himself (so he really is a real person). He should make more of these episodes

I wonder what happened to Hayate? I bet he had to do the Nagasarete Airantou episode lol

Someone mentioned in this thread that it was planned to be a long series but I never saw a source for that.
But I did read about 52 episodes else where.

Where do I even begin with this episode 10? It felt over the top like the producers were trying a bit too hard to try and make us laugh. I lost track of what was going on when the scenes interwined randomly.

Spoiler:

Yum yum... if maria/mariel did not look slightly older she would not be my type.

i would put her closer to 30. definatey, NOT 17 or any teens.

older maid sister with a hint of experience, yes, that melts my butter.

kind of like Ama from shuffle, or the mom from inakoi.

although i like the other made girl too, but mostly because she wears glasses and is a clutz. thats hot too.

unbelievably, i am not a hinagiku fan.

I am with you. I prefer older women. Teens just do not do it for me.

Yeah, I mentioned that, with the source, a month ago. The first DVD solicitation announced that there'll be 13 DVDs in the series, and each DVD contains 4 episodes, so about 52 episodes in all (it might end up being like 50 or 51, but close to 52, anyway).

very few JP DVDs contain 4 episodes on 1 disc *cough* *cough*

when they release DVD 1 with four episodes then i'll consider it set in stone.

has DVD one come out yet so I can take my foot out of my mouth.

Umm... trust me, the solicitiations aren't lying. Check them for yourself -- 1, 2, 3, 4... and so on. The running time for each is 92 minutes, and the last line of the description says which episodes are included (1 to 4, 5 to 8, 9 to 12, and so on). That info comes straight from the publisher, and is also confirmed (for disc 1) on the official site. You can also search Google for countless other Japanese stores accepting pre-orders with the same official info. First disc will be released on July 25th.

Very few late-night 13 or 26-episode shows are released at 4/disc (though some are), but it's much more common for long-running and prime-time/Saturday morning type shows. A few reasons for that:
- There's a broader audience and better advertising support when they air during "normal" hours
- If you expect people to collect the whole 52-episode show, you can't be too greedy on price/episode count. Otherwise, people will only buy the discs they really really like.
- For a 52-episode show, it'd take way too long for the DVDs to be released if there were too few episodes per disc. You don't want to still be releasing discs a year or later after the show aired; people will have forgotten all about it by then.

R2 DVD prices are very expensive (trust me, I know that firsthand...), but there is a logic to it all. It all comes down to "what the market will bear".

If you still don't believe me... well, you'll see.

I thought episode 10 was so-so.

I wonder what happened to Hayate...

Does anyone have the romanji lyrics to Hayate's Image Song: Boku wa Kimi no Mono?

then puns, crossovers, parodies in Hayate are really lame in my opinion.

like 85% of them go over people's heads, *WoosH*

this is not like pani poni dash where finding the references was fun.

instead of doing 100 puns per episode putting in 4 good ones would be alot more exciting.

In epiosde 10, the evangelion reference, most people would get, right off the bat. and the dragon quest with slimes parody.
more like this would be good. but they need to be more defined. Rei should have sprouted wings, or a second head

remember, a comedy without substance is just slapstick in the end. in this case, less is more. alot less is alot more.

Except you forgot that these puns are designed for the Japanese otaku and not for your average American anime watchers. The puns works very well with the Japanese crowds as they are not obscure by the Japanese standards.

I don't know... Ep 10 of Hayate was weird... Left me staring at the screen going wtf?! Basically this ep was as fillerish as it gets and gave me Negima!? vibes when it came to randomness... Personally this kind of random storytelling, instead of entertaining just hurts my head..

Good things they are going back to the actual story next ep so can't wait!
