Time to get this thread started!
So yep, the thread title says it all. Looks like my man Keiji Inafune got fed up with Capcom's crap and decided to continue Mega Man in his own way. Just look at that trailer and check out the concept arts of the robots who totally AREN'T Rock, Roll, Rush, and Cut Man!: *mod edit Please read the following guidelines before posting: - Only the first post may link to a Kickstarter project and may be posted only as a reference. - Do not make comments to encourage others to support or ignore the project in question. - If you decide to support the project, do not make posts about that. - Do not derail the conversation by talking about the fund rasing itself, nor try to "rush" people into it by discussing the deadline of each project. - Remember that soliciting is not allowed here Last edited by Daniel E.; 2013-09-01 at 01:28. |

I just totally love this idea. Just giving the middle finger to Capcom. "Fine you guys don't want to make a Megaman game then I'll make a game that's totally not a Megaman game, but totally is!"
Always up for more games of that fashion.

This must be the child of Megaman and...Kirby?
At any rate, it is a good concept imo, breaking away from the current mainstream gaming styles is the way to go. Influences from other titles are always a given in the gaming industry, although this one seems a bit too heavily influenced :P |

Mega Man-like? For sure. Mega Man game? No, since we know it's not affiliated with Capcom or the Mega Man franchise in any way as you can see in the FAQ. But boy is this gonna be awesome. The video was really inspiring too.
Also, thought I'd share this article here if permitted: http://kotaku.com/mega-man-designer-...ium=Socialflow Last edited by Student no.0; 2013-09-01 at 19:19. |

This all looks amazing. I already love the concept art for the main character. I agree with Mare Boy that the video was inspiring. I love seeing things behind the scenes, and listening to developers talk about the games they are creating.

It's not just Roll, either. That one girl-bot with the pink hair is basically Aero from the canceled Legends 3 (and considering that the artist of the Legends series is on board for this project, I highly doubt that's a coincidence). Heck, one of those designs even looks similar to Iris from the X series! But putting aside character comparisons, I'm actually pretty interested in learning some more gameplay details. Judging from the concept artwork, it sorta looks like it'll combine elements from most, if not all the past MM franchises. The whole thing about stealing abilities from regular enemies in addition to bosses may bring Kirby to most people's minds, but some of the later MM games used that idea, as well (like battle chips from the EXE series, Axl's copy shot in the later X titles, or that ability Zero had in MMZ4 where he could grab certain enemies' weapons, etc.). I wonder if they'll also expand on some of the old abilities like sliding, dashing, or charge shots? I'm definitely looking forward to finding out.... |
