Also the change in this episode was more I think to draw parallels between Negi and Touta. Something UQ Holder was not as interested in doing in early years I think.
Hence Touta having to gain the respect/entrance by landing one blow on a superior opponent, which is what Negi was supposed to have done with Chachamaru. And yeah. Pretty sure that was Eva's requirement in Negima. Although I'm not certain the same girls were there. For example I am pretty sure miss Father-con got introduced to magic side only AFTER she got into the magic world. Also the Anime explanation for the switch and other people that wanted the sword being seemingly dumb is slightly better here. Oh an yeah, this episode gave us some info that was not shown in Manga. Namely Mr GameImmortality's manner of immortality. Makes me wonder if he has ways of resetting the number of lives remaining. On the bad part, the animation is still not that great and the CGI was kinda terrible. Those monsters felt out of place and seemed ripped straight out of some video game. Thez didćt even trz making their textures fit the rest of artwork.

Yea the CGI was pretty bad
And with all the changes I've seen so far, I'd say it's safe to assume that the anime takes place in a different timeline from the manga. It'll be easier to accept if we think of it that way

I like that Jinbei is around for the organization instead of not even trying to get out of where Eva dropped him years ago because of a petty squabble. That made them both horrible leaders who didn't worry that much about the leadership of an allegedly very important organization in the manga, I thought, so the change came off as very palatable to me. |

Jinbei was supposed to be there as a punishment, only Yuki forgot to let him out for a few years.
Okay, while I can get them shoehorning Shinobu in ahead of time and changing the entry tests for time's sake, they could at least give it a more concrete explanation than "various things happened and before I knew it I wound up living and working here". These immortals are supposed to be a secret among normals, so for her to know should be extreme circumstances when the magic users know how to erase memories. If you're going to change it, at least let me see those circumstances. And they straight up spoiled something from the last chapter of the manga.

Bad CGI is Terribad ... but it manages to do to in a hilarious way so for the time being I'm willing to give it a pass ...
Have to say, with how the Manga evolved from its early stages, I really don't mind the change in how Shinobu was introduced |

Well, his immortality is supposed be top secret. Even without details it's big spoiler.
Anyway I am glad I don't remember exact content if chapter this episode covered. I have feeling I would be very disappointed otherwise...

All of their immortalities are supposed to be reveal as needed because it also reveals their weakness.

Full Metal Alchemist had 2 different anime, one different from manga, one follows manga. Shaman King had 2 different manga endings, manga and anime started out same, but ends different. Also, a lot of other anime series do the same with manga and anime, mainly because of time issue where they have to stuff a certain amount of material in the anime within a certain amount of episodes, which means they're require to mix around or compress plots. |

Spoiler for manga comparissions:
This episode was fine, in that it covered the highlights of the adapted material. But I feel the adaptation is kinda loosing the soul of the work. Like a lot of the gags are gone with the cutting, and gags are kinda an important part of the Negima and UQ. So despite the compression being done pretty well in that the cuts aren't noticeable, the soul is gone and the episode feels kinda bland.

Episode 4
Spoiler for Manga chapters covered:
4th Dimension pretty much covered the important differences from the manga. The episode pretty much went as well as it could have for the amount of material they are covering. It pretty much sticks to the plot of the manga but at breakneck speeds.

The ED card is by mangaka Satou Yuuki, artist for series such as Tanteiken Sherdock and the ongoing Tomodachi Game.
https://www.mangaupdates.com/authors.html?id=6294 Does anyone know how to read the message written on the bottom right of the endcard? And that's why people get compelled to buy the Bluray versions. Last edited by zztop; 2017-10-23 at 20:29. |

If they are banking on the sales of BDs they might get dissapointed brcause I'm not sure how engaging this is to someone who didn't read the manga, and banking on just the current reader base might not be for the best.
