Kugimiya Rie wasn't listed in the cast, and neither was the character she played in Negima, so I'm curious as to whether she'll be voicing her here too or not. Kugimiya has a long standing relationship with JC Staff, so that theorically should pose no problem, but it's weird she wasn't named now we've seen her character will at least cameo here.

Something like that bit at the end happens later in Ch 65, although it's not a transmission and the contents is not the same.
The real shame here is that the Eva v Fate fight wasn't really animated at all and they just used the ultimate resolution. The fight before that was actually done relatively well compared to in how much of a rush the show is and how strapped for cash the animation budget seems to be. But yeah the hologram!Negi at the end was didn't really need to be there IMO.

Rie Kugimiya is voicing Tsukuyomi in UQ Holder, and speaking of Tsukuyomi...damn, didn't expect her to have become a full-body cyborg I had a feeling the conversation was going to get interrupted the moment Evangeline/Yukihime told Kuroumaru to search for the communication device...but I wasn't expecting a "Plot Advancement DENIED!" I guess they thought there wasn't enough fanservice, so they're doing a fanservice episode I'd say the purpose for hologram!Negi was to debunk Fate's statement of him being the one who killed Touta's parents

This scene obviously mixed in later scenes (with holographic alteration) between Fate and Eva when they found Negi's letter. That was the very first hint about Negi they got in the manga, and it was right at the start of a new arc which probably wont make it into the anime.

This week (episode 9)'s end card:
Spoiler:
I think Mizore is cute but geez, she can be annoying to watch at the same time. The talk between Yukihime and Touta was also quite important at the end especially regarding Touta.

Lots of QUALITY faces during this episode, especially during Mizore's entrance with her grandmother, Ayaka's discussion with Eva, and Ayaka's flashback. Then weirdly, the faces during the scenes where Kuro, Karin and Kirie (the KKK!) spy on Touta, and especially during Touta and Kitty's conversation, are very well drawn, so...?
Chachamaru, especially, looked off model through the whole episode, and much like in the manga, her absence of any meaningful interaction with Evangeline during their re-encounter really feels like a disservice to the characters. On the plus side, Ayaka's seiyuu did a magnificent job playing the older and young versions of her character believably, I didn't think think she'd pull Old!Ayaka that well. Also, Mizore's character development and crushing on Touta are even worse here than they were in the manga. Compressing it all into a single episode really hurt an already farcical and ill-handled situation. Kirie's sudden crush on Touta also comes as false here, since it didn't have all the added buildup time and interactions between the two it had in the manga by the time Mizore appeared. It's like suddenly she's in love with him just because. |
