Im usually neutral towards loli fanservice but goddamn, Silicia is way, way too cute. That scene with her in underwear was refreshing because SAO really has kept the fanservice to a minimum. Till now

I also enjoyed all her interactions with Kirito, who continues to be an overpowered badass. Like last week not a lot of progress yet storywise but that's ok. I like doing all the optional stuff in the RPGs I play and these episodes are indeed side quest material.

This episode is awesome. Really like the "tanking" part of Kirito in this episode. Reminding me where my Lv60 wizard was tanking entire Act 4 Hell in Diablo3 because my regen ability out-regen everything in that dungeon.

Plus, the feeling is so good when you were actually carried your team mate because you are higher level than them.

Well done episode. Having just caught up from Episode 1, this series (I'm also a non-LN reader) gives me serious hunger games vibes. Has anyone confirmed how many cours this show is slated for?

It's a two-cour show, so probably either 25 or 26 episodes. (Of course, that doesn't preclude there being future seasons announced later.)

Very good adaptation this time, if anyone was gonna nitpick it'll be that they wanted Kirito to chuck Rosalia headfirst into the Corridor Crystal.
Now im really curious what's the plot for next week and where on the timeline it's at

Though, the specifics for orange-level morality kind of confuses me, at first I thought it was someone who only stole things from others, but when Rosalia mentioned that Kirito would go orange-level if he harmed her confused me a bit. Don't you go red-level if you PK someone?

Silica for the most part seemed like a character that was there to please the otaku audience. Her obvious crush on Kirito, the high-pitched squeaky voice, the short scene of her in her underwear (which is TOTALLY pointless in an MMORPG btw) and the numerous tentacled monsters that kept attacking her which I doubt was just a coincidence. She could've been much worse yes, but she didn't really give off the same vibes of a strong and dignified woman like Asuna did in episode 2.

I can't say whether or not she'll be appearing again either. The end of the episode suggested that she won't be though, which is a plus by my standards.

Again, for a filler-esque episode it could have been a LOT worse thanks to Silica, but they managed to refrain from going too over the top, so I really have no complaints.~
They are indeed Orange for theft, but not once was it mentioned that they had a direct hand in the death of the 4 players, indirectly maybe such as taunting a grp of monsters at them, but if it was direct, they would immediately turn red. And as Kirito mentioned, once you're orange its only for a couple of days and it'll go away.

About Scilica in her underwear, you need to understand that the 5 senses is replicated in the VRMMO, so its natural to sleep in your underwear (more comfortable) She puts on a night gown after cuz she realized how embarrassing it would be seen in her undies. Floor 47 is all plant based monster, tentacles, bugs etc. And since she's wearing a skirt its only logical that she's useless since they monsters all pick up her upside down

Really amazing episode, Silica was cute and adorable as I expected her to be, and Kirito...no words can describe how boss he is, seriously. Yuki Kajiura you've done it again with your incredible music skills, and I really like the one used between Kirito and Silica. It really sets the mood for two people meeting and becoming partners/good friends.

I really liked how they implemented the player status in this episode just to give an idea how your "reputation" in the SAO sever is. The slight introduction to PK's is becoming apparent now it seems, makes sense considering that crimes and the act itself is a common occurrence in online games from what this episode explained...somewhat.

It's really nice that Silica got Pina back, hurray! Kirito's levels are off the charts, 78, no surprise there since he's practically an expert at leveling.

Awesome episode, I'm going to go watch it again to see if I'm missing something, or did they learned from episode 3 and didn't rush certain things from the original story. Haven't read the novels lately, so this may take awhile.

just watched the episode, kirito being badass without killing his partner/just met friends feels soo good

i never read the LN so iam curious about several things, hope someone can answer it

- the above poster mention there is no healing class, how exactly the class system work in this game anyway? does everyone start as "novice" class then rank up to "specific" class something like that?

- talking about healing... is there even "magic" in this game? i only saw flashy skill that always come from their weapon (weapon art)

Fantastic episode.

That's all that needs to be said.

I'm a LN reader that went into this blind, not having read this particular side-story. Didn't matter though, unlike the last two episodes which I felt had conversion issues (LN knowledge with one ep, blind in the other); that complaint was nowhere to be found here.

Everything was brilliantly delivered, paced correctly, and I immensely enjoyed every second. Especially the reveal of Kirito's purpose at the end, not unbelievable in the least, but I had no idea what it could have been until he said it. Even better, I didn't even care about knowing as I immediately got fixated on the adventure he and Scilica were partaking in.

On that note, I really, really love the skills effects/sounds in the anime. And Kirito with that end scene against all of them. I love that. How they portrayed just how OP'd he was, his explanation of it all and the truth of MMO mechanics (which I myself am able to relate and agree to), to the beautiful threat on that pretty little red head. Loved. Every. Second.

So all in all SAO brings the bar back up, and I can't wait to see what else is in store.

Pretty good episode. I'm very happy that the episode ended in a good note. One thing I liked about this anime is that the characters actually changes outfits. It's a nice touch really.

Silica was just adorable during the entire ordeal. She looked cute in her new outfit too. The actions scene were too short, but the interactions made up for it anyway. Last but not least, I hope Silica will show up once again later on in the story... with a bigger dragon. XD

Great episode, comparing to the episode before. The pacing felt right, and all the important story elements are adapted, and done well. Finally they displayed some sense of how being over-leveled in SAO works.

Episode 4:

Pretty solid and fun watch this week.

This first episode since the premier where I felt that weren't any really glaring problems with execution. The content itself was okay, with most interesting parts dealing with Kirito and the PK system. I what found particular intriguing was how Kirito's defense works, I guess with "Battle Healing" he has no need to change his armor to one with a higher stats. Though, had there been a player with a similar level or higher it probably wouldn't be as a effective. It also raises questions about what sort meta-game SAO has among the top players.

As far issues with the episode are concerned, I could have done without loli pandering especially since it was kinda of over the top. I also had a problem with plot development being at a virtual (pun not intended) standstill. Yes we get background info that the denizens are clearing floors, but nothing interesting (not even a hint or foreshadow) has happened to drive the narrative. At this point I'm starting to wonder if most episodes are just going to be "KiritoxRandom strangers then episode finish" till Floor 100. =/

But anyway, nice episode in general. 8/10

SAO uses skills instead of classes, so Silica, for instance, didn't choose beast-tamer as a class but rather put beast-taming into one of her skill slots and trained with it.

Players don't have magic powers in the game -- Kirito mentioned in the first episode that this is a major difference between SAO and other MMOs -- though we've seen a number of game-objects that are effectively magic like the teleport gates and crystals.

I don't see how battle healing implies he doesn't need better armor. If they do more damage then it doesn't matter how much he heals. It only worked because they were so weak. And, well, it's a game so he probably does have better armor than he did before, it just doesn't look any stronger. There's no reason a black coat can't be the best armor in the game. I would assume he's wearing "leather armor" instead of "plate armor" or something like that though.

I'm sure that they are all high level players, but that does not necessarily mean that they are the same level as Kirito. Unlike other players, Kirito is a solo fighter, which means he has to be really, really good. Also, he would gain all experience himself instead of sharing it with others. It is more likely that only a few players are at or around his level.

That would be quite disasterous if it ever occurs. I'm sure a high level guild or 2 will send a party out to "capture" said rogue.

I'm very anti-spoilers, so I'll refrain from asking there. I don't mind discussing it here with others who don't know the answer.

Otherwise, every topic that we bring up would end up with a novel reader answering definitively. I prefer long discussions instead of definitive answers.

That is very true that there probably are a few unbalanced people running around. They are probably doing it for the kicks; however, I do hope there is a team around that protects people from them.

Regards the leather coat, those who scoff that it can give adequete protection have never played Skyrim. I have a set of modded Imperial Light Armor guild armor that has an armor rating of 200, without factoring in my buffs, perks, and enchanted rings.

All in all, I'm happy with this ep. Some things were cut, but nothing absolutely essential, and I'm verympleased with this ep. Everything came together Very well.

Also, the Titan's Head leader was rather hot. Though she did deserve getting locked up for good.

That be some pretty odd balancing if the coat he got off 10 floor Boss was one of best gears in game. I assumed he just kept upgrading and customizing his old coat or something rather than trading it for plate mail. One thing I didn't catch is the explanation on how he trained Battle Healing anyway. One can speculate that he was deliberately taking hits from weak hits from monsters somewhere to grind the skill level.

It looks slightly different from the one he got in episode 2. Which is also different from the one he had in episode 3. He's worn three different black coats so far. This latest one has some studs on the shoulders. We can assume that the game has a whole ton of black coats that look slightly different for different levels.

And he may not want to wear plate mail if it doesn't fit his style. Most games have "light armor" that offers more agility.
