From my observation Fairy tail was good at early part however when Fairy tail gained the popularity and anime, Hiro writing became lazy as him downright lingering on infamous formula "meet strong enemy and defeat them with Nakama powah."

There was a reason why Fairy Tail was "basic". On the previous page, someone said that Mashima felt like RAVE was too dark, and thus decided to create a way more lighthearted series in Fairy Tail. Unfortunately, along the way, it had to face several criticisms (like being compared to One Piece) and editorial intervention... come to think of it, if Mashima did want FT to be lighthearted, why did the Tartaros Arc have to happen?

Also, apparently (no source on this) Mashima also did not want a large-scale war to happen in the story as Fairy Tail was created as an adventure manga. This meant two of the most dragged on story arcs in the story, the Tartaros and Alvarez War arcs were not Mashima's idea in the first place. I know how capable Mashima works. He did not spend a lot of time on hiatus (unlike Miura and Togashi) he has written several spinoffs at the same time. On the other hand, he also tends to drag on certain story arcs for some reason, and that's evident even in RAVE.

Mashima knows his shit and the development of the Alvarez War Arc is not entirely his fault.
His editors have derailed Fairy Tail, and he had just barely escaped any further tampering of the story.

I'm sad the series is over. I was so happy when I found it since it was something I was searching a long time for

I've enjoyed the ride and it's the end of an era for me. Glad there is the anime at least.

A nice ending imo.

A lot of implied ships, (plus the Laxus harem situation, lol), but overall keeping true to the lighthearted nature of the series.

Farewell Fairy Tail, the series that made me start reading Manga, farewell.

Mashimaaa... you did a fantastic job for all the couples' ending except Erza-Jellal... how dare you

putting that aside, I must admit that I enjoyed some of the arc even if the late arcs were letting me down

Thank you for making this manga and for people that translated them...

It's always difficult to say for sure about this because usually nobody will talk openly on what's which side's fault, and most specially not to foreigners.

Whenever a comic at Marvel or DC flops, before the day's over the creators will be out talking a storm in the Internet over how Marvel or DC screwed them over, f**k the editors, or the editor will throw subtle 'creative differences' hints at the creators' backs, and other creators who are in the know will leak out what they know. Habitually, it's pretty easy to tell who's messed up, Dan Didio, Joe Quesada, John Byrne, Rob Liefeld or all of them.

With the way the manga system is set up, and the way traditional NIHONGO LOYALTY works, a creator knows spilling the beans will cost them their careers UNLESS they are large enough to move out on their own, a career high very few (think of Go Nagai, Monkey Punch, Tezuka himself) have ever reached. Even being a 'big name' is no guarantee, since the market is fickle and even many well known authors are actually One or Two Hit Wonders. And an editor will never admit the ship's having trouble under their helm, to save face they will just clench that smile and spout as many hollow formalities as they are able to, instead...

I think this ending is correct. The story was about Lucy & the guild and in the last chapter she left the guild for a very long mission. A generational time skip would skip various narrative arcs like in Naruto or other manga.
This ending opened various opportunities:
- a third movie about the 100 years mission with the return of Aquarius;
- a spin off about Lamia Scale like FT Blue Mistral;
- a new version of Rhodonite and/or Laxus'gaiden;
- a new generation version about the new August...

Knowing Mashima, they'll probably finish the mission in five minutes.

Mashima has a lot of great ideas, I doubt he would use FT as the source for actual spin-off series (IIRC he was in charge of only one of the FT spinoffs, don't remember which one atm).

Sometimes in Fairy Tail characters die, but they always come back. Why did you decide to both this?

This has to do with the fact that in Rave Master, a lot of characters actually died and it turned out to be a sad story. When you are working on a manga in a magazine, it is up to the reader's polls and feedback whether you can actually stay in the magazine. To be quite honest, the chapters that have the death of a really important character get a lot of reaction. Knowing this, I really wanted to make sure that people don't die in my series.
Hey! we have a smart interviewer that actually ask not a certificate interviewer whom ask the obvious.
Anyway good now we see the troll king answer; because Rave huh, but i have feeling he not disclose everything that he enjoyed to troll readers with characters death.
Too bad the smart interviewer not asked the reason behind why Fairy tail guild always win

It's quite funny that people give Mashima shit about the lack of deaths in Fairy Tail when he did get shit on for killing many characters in RAVE Master.

See, this is what the problem with the fans.

The way Gajeel's death and revival was handled reeked of executive meddling. Feels kind of annoying that the actual reason was worse.

Tartaros was hands down the best arc of Fairy Tail.

For me the best arc was Laxus's attempt to take over the guild.
