A new TV anime titled 'Vanishing Line' is scheduled to premiere for Fall 2017. Studio will be MAPPA.
Cast includes Tomokazu Seki, Rie Kugimiya, Nobunaga Shimazaki, and Ami Koshimizu

Plot Summary:

The anime's story is set in a prosperous city named Russell City. Even as the city celebrates its success, a conspiracy that threatens to shake its world begins to move within it. A man named Sword is the first to hear the first stirrings of the plot, and throws himself into a shadow war in order to expose it. His only clue is the key word "El Dorado." He meets Sophie, a woman searching for her missing older brother who has only left her with the same words: "El Dorado." With Sword having also lost his younger sister in the past, both are drawn together by the words, and work together to find out its meaning.

WOW, trailer looks insane, I was already happy with the October season, it looks like we'll have another series that promises.

And as an additional note, it seems that the anime will be aired on TV Tokyo.

First episode is out!

Wow, this was cool. OP song is cool although I personally prefer the first Garo theme song.

A modern setting Garo with motorcycles, badasses, and dark city. Sword seems like an interesting character as I expect the show to explore more of his past. His role from this episode shows that he is daring and not afraid to take risks. I'm also curious to see how this anime plans to develop his relationship with Sophie, a girl she met in city. Seems the two are pretty different but has a connection.

Solid first episode. As this takes place in a more modern setting, I expect more epic road action like the ones from this episode.

I would say this is really trying to be cool... I guess on some level it succeeds, but otherwise it does come off as hilariously tryhard, even for the franchise. At least it was entertaining and the fights were fairly cool, if not very well-directed, so there's that.

But, well. I suppose it's part of the show going for a retro-ish "this is what US audiences like, right?" thing, but I could really really do without the T&A and Sword's eye-rollingly macho attitude. The latter is annoying and clichéd, while the former is exactly the kind of shoehorned-in-for-no-reason fanservice that I find alienating and obnoxious. (At least make them nice T&A! Roller skate girl's boobs looked terrible and the animation was just awkward.) From the trailers and the ending I'm already rolling my eyes at the other girl's outfit and the treatment she's probably going to get, and so now I'm waiting to see whether they'll have the guts to make the fanservice equal-opportunity. Counting on you, Luke. (Yes, I'm being sarcastic.)

Still, it was fairly entertaining otherwise, so for now I'm in. For now.

Welp liked it, then again I like the entire GARO franchise so I'm a bit biased.

Still, it's mostly anime now, hope the live-action series isn't dead.

I have to say the action scenes were a bit off-kilter to me... maybe a bit too much "tryhard" for my tastes; it had this weird screen reverb effect which made it hard to get a fix on the position of the characters, not to mention fighting on the bike, while seemingly a cool concept, just seems a bit too unrealistic(like that weird rotational attack) and hard to follow. With Sophie, I got some Darker than Black 2 vibes(though arguably, I've never watched that series or its original; its just an impression I got).

As for the characters, I like Sophie so far, and Zaruba is always a treat to listen to. Sword, I'm still on the fence about. He reminded me of German at first, with the breasts thing, but overall, outside of the battles, just didn't feel entertaining at all to watch. He might just need some good wing[wo]men; after all, as much as I love the original Garo anime, the characters can only do so much by themselves, especially if they haven't been established yet.

It's not just the reverb effect, it's the overly dynamic camerawork? if that is even a thing. It's just trying so hard to have cool visuals that it goes overboard and it becomes difficult to tell who is where doing what. (Kind of like the shaky cam in movies.)

I liked Zaruba being a motorbike, though, that was kind of cool.

I think its a combination of the dynamic camera work and how very detailed each action cut is. you can't absorb all the details before you jump to the next cut, and you're overwhelmed

I can see how one could think this show tries too hard to be cool, but I found it actually cool. The action was really dynamic and explosive. Zarubike is an awesome idea, he can finally play an active part in the fights!

Sword is very different from his predecessors and I like that. He's the most carefree Garo ever, and highly likely the strongest out of suit (to the point it was a bit ridiculous). His interactions with Zaruba will probably be great.

I mean, this show definitely has shades of the 'it's like a fourteen year old boy designed it based on what he thought was kewl,' but Garo's kind of like that in general. That's part of its charm.

Also, any Zaruba is good Zaruba. Hopefully he won't get too sidelined like in the previous two anime.

I agree. This episode is actually badass. I don't feel any Chuuni-tryhard-ness in this episode, just showmakers who like macho things (and Ghost Rider, I guess?). And I can comprehend the action just fine and it looks nice too. I mean, if you can follow huge motorbike fights like in FF VII: Advent Children you should be able to follow what's happening here.

I found the accusation and claim such as "hilariously tryhard, even for the franchise" actually funny. Try go back to the very first live-action Garo. There, you'll find a pretty-boy MC with fancy (if not gaudy) white long coat acting all distant princey like a cool boyband member . That is the epitome of tryhard especially when the TV series back then was still influenced by The Matrix movies . Don't let nostalgia goggles cloud your judgement, people.

In this one, we have a carefree guy who is actually physically strong and imposing and looks macho like a manly man. It doesn't try to incorporate all things that's hip and cool in this generation. If anything, it goes against today's cool tropes where characters like SAO's Kirito reign supreme. It goes back to the old days of 80s & 90s heroes and it's a welcome variation among many action shows airing today featuring pretty boys or reserved MCs or both. Oh, how I missed MCs like Guts. If only Berserk got a decent anime adaptation instead of the recent two seasons of dreck we actually got .

Yeah, this is what I mean by 'Garo always has shades of fourteen year old kewlness to it.'

And that's not a bad thing. It's harmless at worst, and a lot of fun at best. There's nothing wrong with some escapism into something that's fundamentally kind of ridiculous and a little juvenile.

Best part is, they remembered Makai Knights have hand-to-hand training. It was refreshing to see anime GARO punching things.

Just finished the first episode and I am surprised how good it was. Sometimes you just need some over the top action. I think it is a great move having someone like Sword as Garo. Hopefully they won't scale back too much on the fight scenes.
