An updated nomination count. I probably started missing a few nominations here and there since the sum no longer comes to be divisible by 12 (I know some people didn't nominate 12. I put in "Abstain" in those slots so the sum should still be a multiple of 12), but overall it shouldn't affect much. I'll write in a sanity check before counting again.
Spoiler for Characters with 40 or more nominations:
Spoiler for Characters with 30-39 nominations:

Thanks for the update, RegalStar. Do you know how many people you collected nominations from for this update and the previous one?
I'd say take a look at the list of characters RegalStar posted and see if there's a character you like that doesn't seem to be getting much support.

Cause Hideyoshi is moe?
Seriously, he was the second highest ineligible entry after Tennos Athena in 2011. On par with Iwasawa Asami. And that is because the rest of us knew he wasn't eligible. (Athena was on the level with Erza Scarlet. Above the likes of Tsukasa Hiiragi, but below the likes of Charlotte Dunois. And that was because she was still in question the day or so before voting started.)

My nomination picks for 2012 (in no particular order except #1, of course ):
1.) Sayaka Miki - Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica 2.) Kyouko Sakura - Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica 3.) Rika Furude - Higurashi no Naku Koro ni 4.) Nanoha Takamachi - Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha 5.) Sena Kashiwazaki - Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai 6.) Kobato Hasegawa - Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai 7.) Kirika Ueno - Cube x Cursed x Curious 8.) Fear Kubrick - Cube x Cursed x Curious 9.) Subaru Konoe - Mayo Chiki 10.) Asuha Touhara - Astarotte no Omocha 11.) Mayuri Shiina - Steins;Gate 12.) Ohana Matsumae - Hanasaku Iroha Hmm, a lot of Nova entries. And 4 Yukarin characters. Spoiler for VA connections:
Too much seiyuu association & appreciation, perhaps? In all seriousness, I like the characters themselves.

ISML's Space Opera was setting up for a massive confrontation between the Kugimiya Knights and the Order of the Lotus (Hanazawa), due to the numbers of characters each voiced relative to just about anybody else. Four for Rie Kugumiya and five for Kana Hanazawa.

Right now I see 5 automatic preliminary entries for Hanazawa (Kanade, Ruri, Charlotte, Nadeko, Kuroi Mato) and 2 for Kugimiya (Shana, Taiga) (Nagi and Louise still have to be renominated), but there is the potential for each side to have more entries.
Unrelated but interesting coincidence: Railgun's ISML postseason opponents: 2010 Nadeko (Kana) < Taiga (Rie) < Shana <2x> (Rie) < Mio <2x> (Neither one) 2011 Charlotte (Kana) < Taiga (Rie) < Ruri (Kana) < Shana (Rie) I doubt it will happen again this year, but I doubt both sides would want to challenge Railgun.

Which suggests the Order of the Lotus "won" the last war. Save that is was Shana that "stopped" Kanade before the end.
But Nagi will likely be back (and unfortunately it looks like Louise will be back as well...no matter how many times she gets below the threshold). It is just a matter of who is viable from newer Kugimiya characters to become this year's "Padawans" I don't think I established the Order of the Lotus all that much since I didn't do all that much writting this last year. It wasn't intended to be a Sith example to mirror the Kugimiya Jedi example. But it was to be a secret religious order of some kind that was entering through other powers...since Hanazawa's characters were all over the place, while at this point all of the Kugimiya characters were from JC Staff. Therefore the JC Staff character Misaka Mikoto would be either the military might of the JCS taking over the Jedi-ish Kugimiya's role as defenders, or the political governement reminding the Kugimiya that they serve, not rule. (much like the Hinagiku win as President to retain the authority in the civilian hands instead of handing over power to the Knights) But the KyoAni Empire is still out here. The powerbase of the God Empress Haruhi and her loyal rival (and greatest weapon) St. Nagato still holds with their musical combat forces under Mio and Azusa. However there numbers are dropping (not their winning numbers, just the number of characters in the grouping). Nichijou could boost up the numbers to maintian its standing against the JCS as the Twilight of KEY based Clannad and Lucky Star fades away. That is, if the likes of Tomoyo, Kyou, and Kagami don't return this year.
