Oh. Hi, Yuki Kaji. It's nice to see you again. But nonetheless, that was still a great first episode. Hopefully we get to learn a lot more about the Titans and what they're like. I think it would be a shame if they're brainless monster that only serve to highlight humanities's struggle to survive and drive the development of our main characters.

This first ep was great! If only Muv Luv had the budget like this...

Just hope that it does not end up like SAO and the quality goes downhill from here.

Also, on the topic of banning majority of international broadcasting, do remember this is an gore intensive show, which touches on some disturbing topics. If you consider the way the Western audience considers anime to be the same as cartoons, and thus watchable for kids, and all the potential lawsuits this show would have, they made the prudent choice. How many kids would have nightmares of their parents being eaten if they watch this show without supervision?

Still, it will get its way around to those who would want to watch it, so no real reason to complain. Japanese market has always been for Japan, if they want it international they would release the localized version in dvd and blurays later.

Sorry but that argument makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. There have been shows WAY more violent than this that have made it to the US unhinged, and some of those shows have been simulcasted. This is clearly just Japan being stupid and paranoid(about what exactly I'm not sure but definently not the reason you just gave). I mean sure it's their property and they can do what they want with it but given how big a title it is, and the fact that that it was pretty highly anticipated in the west as well as Japan this is a poor decision on their part no matter how you look at it. Well all I can say is if this somehow hurts the show in the long run, the production commitee gets no sympathy from me whatsoever.

... but upon hearing there is no legal stream, and most probably never will be? Fuck you MBS.

By far and away, the best opening episode of this season. I have always thought that this cour will be a battle between this and Valvrave the Liberator, but I dunno, it's gonna be VERY HARD if not impossible for Valvrave to top this one.

Yeah, lived up to every bit of hype I have heard about this series. It's like a fantasy Muv Luv Alternative, replacing alien bugs with giant naked humanoids. Blood, gore, and violence galore. Loved how the feeling of helplessness was throughout the episode. But the one impressed me the most? The frigging BADASS OP.

The first episode looks promising. The artwork seems as it has the same quality of Berserk movie. Hope they can keep it up. The story looks alright, but it hints some interesting conspiracy.

Otherwise, the OP looks alright if it doesn't includes the flipping comic book pages. It reminds me about Hentai Kamen PV. HK PV uses it as playing the joke on American comic adaption. When a comic books has the movie adaption, they tend to show PV with flipping pages of comic books. Maybe it was used to tell that the adaption is faithful to the original source.

By the way, the flowing lake looks really nice.

Good first episode. Not much to say as much didn't happen. I'm more interested in how the story will end up, though from the opening manga images it would seem they will be following the manga.

Attack on Titan is definitely 2-cour. Noboru Takagi announced on his Twitter account that he's working on the show, and he's writing 6 episodes on the show - ep 8, 12-13, 19, and 21-22.

You expected everything to happen the way it did, but still, it was a very powerful first episode.

Looking forward to this, for sure.

EPIC . . . utterly EPIC! A serious show right from the very first episode.

The OP song sounds kinda weird for my taste though

Way too impressive episode in general. OP is one of the most intense ones I have seen in a long while, with the bonus of the song being really good and flowing nicely with the fast paced visuals.

Content-wise the actual episode was more slow and informative with the exception of the intro and ending scenes, where the production values and OST truly shined. Definitely a keeper.

I'm more worried as to how the whole budget thing will work out if the animation quality of episode 1 keeps up.

Wow, just wow. That was an intense and great first episode. I had GantZ vibes at first when I saw the beginning few minutes. So far, this has been the best first episode I have seen this season.

I am curious as to why the titans walk around naked. I would think their level of intelligence is high enough to at least wear some sort of coverage. Also, with the really giant Titan looking like a human without the outer skin covering, it makes me wonder if these titans are actually manufactured. Are they an experiment gone wrong? Is something creating them for military purposes?

It will be nice to see where this story goes.

Good first episode, intense and 99% faithful to the manga so far

I don't know for you guys but Yuki Kaji is perfect fit as Eren so far with all that whining, shouting and derping around

and love how they can capture Mikasa's charm perfectly this episode

It is almost certain that drop in animation quality will take place in the future episodes

the question is, how far?

Yep, this show has a strong start. No bullshit, no meta gimmick pretentious crap, no insulting the audience with bait and switch. It had a lot of tension with the trauma being dealt to the protagnist, though having dat Yuki Kaji voice worries me a little.

Also, Mikasa has really cool hair.

I guess I'll throw a counter opinion out there amongst the love fest...Honestly didn't find anything except for the opening moments very good.

Lots of little things some of which others have commented on like the animation, but I'd say the biggest downer for me was the titans themselves. I just couldn't get immersed in the stories atmosphere because they looked and behaved so silly to me. "Oh noes they're giant naked guys/anatomy dummy with suspiciously good haircuts shambling around...TERROR!" Eh not...really. The bit with the mother I actually ended up laughing because that thing just looked so derp to me. *shrug*

Hopefully in the future episodes they can make them feel like more fearsome opponents that deserve the dread they provoke from the characters. Putting on some pants or acting less like zombies would be a start...

While I agree that the titans is not exactly terrifying (for us, that is, not for those characters who actually experienced it), you sure have some unique taste to laugh at that part...
