I was hoping that Deacon Blues was joking, but it was not to be.

Boy was this title mangled. pun intended

Gone was the OP animation for ep. 2, 3 and ED animation for ep. 1 and 2. An attempt to transition from ep. 1 to 2 was made with a scene inclusion that looked new. Unfortunately when Selenite started to play for a few lines you could tell that it was the end of ep. 1. Ep. 2 to 3 transiton was hilarious in that it just didn't work. You can tell that the particular scene was the end of ep. 2.

It still didn't make much sense. With all the carving and new transitioning that went on, the running time was still 80 minutes. So, it's not like it was to make it a shorter title. Making it into a movie format took more work for less payoff imo.

Other than what was stated above, it is a gorgeous film to look at.

Yeah I really have no idea why they bothered changing it from 3 eps to "movie." I don't think the second transition was terribly bad, but the first one sucked because of the transition from Selenite -> hip hop. -_-;;

Translation is quite a bit more accurate than the fansubs lol, as it should be. There were two dialogues I was looking for. They did improve the one in the beginning of episode 3 nicely, but the first spew by Ekou still doesn't make sense. Not mysterious-not-make-sense, but more crazy-not-make-sense.

People feel a sense of accomplishment through battle.
And it’s also a fact that the ones actually fighting are never perceived as being tainted.

Someone probably knows more than I about this title, but it's a 6-part OVA. So far, the resease schedule is thus:

- The Karas (UMD) 2006-04-25
- Karas - The Prophecy (DVD 1) 2006-04-25
- Karas: The Revelation (DVD 2) 2006-09-26
(AnimeNewsNetwork.com)

I haven't read through this, be here's the Wikipedia entry for this title: (wiki-linky)
Quote:
Karas (鴉 -KARAS-) is a six-part OVA that takes place in a futuristic setting. It is being released by Tatsunoko Productions.

The first DVD of episodes 1-3, "Karas: The Prophecy", was released April 24th 2006 in the UK, and April 25th in the US. The second DVD which contains episodes 4-6, "Karas: The Revelation", will be released on September 26, 2006 for the US and the 25th for the UK. Karas is being released in commemoration of Tatsunoko Productions' 40th anniversary.
From that, if it can be believed, it appears that this is a two disc release covering all 6-OVAs, so we might get more of the story (or a funky anime type ending) with the second release. Also, reading back in this thread seems to confirm this supposition. I bought the first DVD a few weeks ago and love it. Great show, awesome animation.

When I go to the release page (http://www.thekaras.net/release/03/), the links to the 4-6 eps are grayed out, which gives me the impression that those aren't out yet. ;x

Of course, it's been an eternity since the release of eps 3 in JP and since I can't read JP I have no idea what's up. No idea if that 9/25 date for the 2nd DVD is official or just a guesstimate by Manga.

More like wishful thinking on their part probably since ep. 4 hasn't seen a DVD release in Japan yet.

John from AnimeNation provided some info on Karas (or lack thereof).

Just bought all 3 boxsets of the DVD, licensed by Innoform Media.

The CG is truly astonishing, seeing that it was from 2005.

It's mentioned that this a 6 ova series, and there doesn't seem to be any news about the 4 episode.

So wondering if the production studio has dropped this series.

This anime obviously looks very high in production value. I just recently picked it up and I was just blown away. I thought this thread would have something like 10 pages, but its only 2.. and Karas has been out for awhile. I guess a lot people dont like it or know about it?

I am also surprised by how few people are paying attention to this show. Maybe they just don't feel the need to discuss it because it is pretty self-explanatory? It is interesting the way they mix a bit of Japanese folklore in with completely original material and modern Japan.

Now I just wish Toei would get off their butts and release episode 4 already! It is waaaaay overdue.

So what's the quality of the VCD like? Did it come with extras? Where can you order it for overseas shipping? It wasn't on yesasia.

I just wished that it was released with English subtitles on the R2 version then I could have used my coupons for it. R1 got shafted when it got made into a movie instead of a 3 OVA release.

I don't know if this is true or not but according to wikipedia.org, Karas: The Revelation will be released in September of this year! What's taking them so long! afterall it's only 3 more episodes! It's been so long that I've forgotten what the series was about!

This series is just eye candy. I'm only watching it to see the next impressive fight scene. Other than that i don't think it has anything.

Would definitely like to see the remaining 3 episodes. Maybe it can still be redeemed. So much for september 2006 ;|
