Oh, well. So now we are on the economy front. Simple math problem, if the Chinese average income is half of that of the US, what will be the size of the Chinese economy compared to the US? What will be the resource demand then comparing to now?

Somehow we should be able to time warp direct from the current stage of economy development to an affluent stage. Where are those high paying jobs come from? Let me remind you that China has no big international corporations like Intel, IBM, Windows, apple, google, toyota, Samsung yet.

"It will not be an army that goes and fights. The goal is to have a force that can replace the U.N. and be prepared to handle natural disasters and other emergencies," he said, highlighting the need for specialized border and maritime units, an elite rapid reaction team, and an engineering corps. "We have to take our own destiny in our hands. We can't always be holding hands and asking for help from others."
Quote:
"We do not have any problem with the authorities and the police. We do not intend to attack anybody. But if the police decide to attack us, we will provide a response and they will be responsible for any damage that would follow," Dorme said. "I hope they remember what happened in 2004. I hope they will think twice before doing anything like that."
Hypocrisy much? However, the real problem lies here :

I think a regular police force should have been enough, along with slight paramilitary elements to take charge of EOD operations, including that to blow away debris.

If they want to fight, I guess U.N has no choice but to kill them all. Down to the last of the 6,000. We don't need another FARC or North African militant group drawing mercenaries into that area.

Remember, all monetary global statistics are calculated according to the USD. The average Chinese income could be half of that in the US, but that is only today and couldn't count much for domestic consumption. Though the low-income jobs can't hold for long, soon China would be exporting them overseas, then raising pay in order to bring the skilled labour back.

Unfortunately, it IS economic warfare right now that could balloon into an economic Cold War. China is attempting to break into the US market through acquisitions via "private firms" (I don't really believe in "Chinese private firms", the government has interests in them one way or another) - Yahoo is the first big step. What US has is the cutting edge technology, combined with gigantic China's manufacturing infrastructure, could have made China the biggest economy for at least two centuries. Many countries are attempting to stop "China from buying out the world" by instituting political ownership, a step towards de-privatisation and nationalisation - which could hurt market liquidity.

All wars are won by the biggest factories - those international corporations started out by building on their soil, then exporting the lower-end jobs to save cost. Right now the biggest factories are in China, so who will win the economic war in the future? One day it would become that China owns those Big Corporations on their soils and your children would be complaining that their jobs are going to US - or maybe with the size of China, it might not be as bad because there is always another Chinese rural village to exploit. *sarcastic*

Actually, they're not giving police duties to security companies. They giving old unsolved cases to the companies to solve to lift the load for the police.

Makes me think of the Detroit police force in Robocop, which became at first owned privately by the OCP.

When the public sector is privatized is when we will finally see the final decay of humanity. The need to make a profit will overrule the need to care for society's problems.

The US has *tried* (uses) for-profit prisons --- they lead directly to corruption and over-incarceration. We just finished the sentencing of a judge who was getting kickbacks for incarcerating juveniles in a for-profit detention system. Many of them were for reasons that in no way justified detention (like one student who was imprisoned for 3 months for insulting a school official on a website).

Dude I am TELLING you Putin would be the most EPIC James Bond villian! He ALWAYS gives off that vibe in these awesome photos!

Anyways, the Middle Class/Liberals need to unify and actually show that they have a viable candidate.

A certain amount of youth, and a high amount of workers still either LIKE Putin or resign to the fact that there is no one strong enough to take Russia in a different direction while generally maintaining stablility.

I'm still trying to find out actual demographic breakdowns of who is for Putin and who is not. Western Media is kinda lazy in that aspect. I'd suppose a certain amount of Moscow and St. Petersburg, along with a considerable proportion of the urban areas East of the Ural mountains are still for him. I hear towards the west, support on the ground drops considerably. In Vladovostok, there is considerable appeal towards the Communists apparently.

Sorry; dynamic content not loaded. Reload?

Putin's main "power" is north caucasus(94% for him), budget workers(police, army, hospitals etc.) - even if they are agains Putin, they have not much of a choice, some part of the elder generation(mostly those who lost their faith in communist party and Zyuganov particularly and those who see Putin as a strong leader with KGBish past etc.) and brainwashed(not all of them of course) youth from "Nashi" organisation.

Putin has only about of 24% votes in Moscow and St. Petersburg* - propaganda has less effect in large cities(thanks, internet).

* - based on internet polls and so on. The real numbers are high, but still - he's loosing it here.

Don't you find it odd that what is supposed to be private is becoming public (like marriage, food diet, choice of religion, child rearing, etc), and what is supposed to be public is becoming private (police, fire, banking, etc)?

Nice breakdown man, thanks.

Oh I meant to say, considerable portion of people WEST of the Ural Mountains in urban areas, silly me.

You really think that some of the Nashi kids are out and out "brainwashed"?

Epic and probably last.
He isn't the kind of guy than would try to kill Bond in a original but escapable way, he would just shoot him inn the head, twice.
