I think it would cheapen the greatest emotional moment in all of gundam if Char or Amuro survived. I mean, shit, that is like...the best scene in all of gundam, If not all of anime! |

I am sorry, even if I am the only oneI must say, Char died very friggin cheaply in that movie. He died, basically at Amuro's mercy, and inside a tiny escape pod. That was no bad ass death, he basically died in a floating prison.
I had expected them to both DIE as a result of a climatic duel. Or at least, died while both trying to 'protect' the world. The same goes for many other characters, who died cheaply and needlessly. I've never liked Tomino's killing spree, and I don't think I ever will... - Tak

Well we can't say for sure he did die...I still think it's open to interpretation...Char being my all-time fav Gundam character I just won't believe he died in that cockpit...but even if he did that emotion and bitter respect he showed to Amuro will always stick with me...The Duel though IMO was climatic filled with great banter, and the standard "Amuroooooooooooo!!!", "Chaaaaaaaaaaaar!!" scream of destiny...

I wouldnt say Char died a Cheap death. HE did die under a Axis.....And Amuro did Hack the Sazabi. And Char nd Amuro even Fought when Amuro had the MP Zeta. And that was for the 14.3 seconds that it played. I mean they both died giving everyone a biggg Light show and come on.....How many people can die saying " I Pushed a asteroid back and saved earth. With a Badd ASs Light show...."

Depends upon who you ask...
According to Yoshiyuki Tomino, they are dead. According to Amuro's Seiyuu, Tohru Furuya, he genuinely believes they're alive. Obviously, Tomino has more authority on the subject, but when it comes to the film, it's pretty much up to the viewer to make their own conclusion. |

Erm, you mean the core fighter from the One Year War. You're talking about the Jupiter Empire recovering the original RX-78-2 Gundam's core fighter, abandoned after the battle at A Bao A Qu, and used the battle data stored in its computer. Hence, that's no indication of whether or not Amuro survived the incident with Axis.
