Here are the important credits from the back of the booklet:

Direction: Yasuhiro Matsumura
Animation Director: Ryoji Nakamori
Keyframes: Ryoji Nakamori, Yasuhiro Matsumura
Color Setting and Correction: Masato Takagi
3DCG Director: Hiroshi Shiroi
Director of Photography: Takeo Ogiwara
Production Assistance: Studio Kelmadick
Production: Graphinica Inc

It pretty much confirms that Madhouse only worked on the production of Vol5-7 before their contract was terminated. The blu-ray box is done by the same staff which will be handling the last 3 volumes. Although, since this is just a remastering and touch up job, there are no creative staff members listed (main director, storyboards, etc) so it still doesn't give us a great idea of what to expect from volume 8 onwards.

I can't see the imageshack links.

Well it's certainly interesting. Honestly I haven't been impressed with the picture quality so far.

Try the link again, I think I fixed it.

I did some checking, and Yasuhiro Matsumura co-storyboarded and co-directed volume 4 of Hellsing Ultimate (the only volume which Studio Kelmadick assisted in production previously), and he is also the director of Papillion Rose (eww), the only series so far to be completely produced by Studio Kelmadick (they mostly do outsourced assistance to other studios).

Since he also handled the direction of the correction process for the BD box, it seems likely that he will be the new director of the OVA for Vol8-10. This is obviously just my theory, but based on the evidence I would say it is likely.

The link for the third imageshack gallery works, but the first two don't work because the links are shortened...thanks a lot anyway. Really appreciate it!

Edit: Yeah it works now, thanks. Wow, some of the screens from Vol2 look... pretty bad in HD. :/

Vol.2 looks atrocious. Vol.1 I think they mostly redrew but 2 looks the worst of the lot easily. What makes it worse is that you can see certain scenes where they redrew which makes the originals stand out even more. Episode 4, lucky for you, looks outstanding in comparison to the rest which leads me to believe that they had HD masters for that.

Edit:They definitely had HD masters for 4 and 5. They look way too good in comparison to the rest of the set. Makes me wonder how KnK is going to turn out.

Yeah, the overall quality looks really inconsistent across the different episodes here. It's really sad, considering how when the OVA was first announced, they said it was in "HD format" even though the release was only on DVD. I guess that was all a lie, considering all the work they had to put in for a HD re-release, and it still ends up looking like this. Poor Luke Valentine.

Well, I just hope they can at least finish off the series in a timely (hahahahaha) and satisfactory manner. Vol8 is going to be a major test for the new staff members, because the lake of the death sequences in the manga are the most detailed and elaborate parts in terms of artwork and layout. It would be really hard for even an experienced animation studio to get it looking "right" in motion, much less a relatively untested pair of studios like we have here.

Hopefully Nakamori's hand doesn't get injured anytime soon, because I believe he is the only reason the OVA still exists. It must really suck for him having to basically work on correcting and polishing up every frame in pretty much every major scene of the OVA. He does a really good job though.

Ok I went back and relooked at some of the episodes. Episode 1 looks like they just completely redid it. It looks overall pretty fantastic and the image quality is around Ep.4 and Ep.5. Now 2 and 3 looks like they touched up but didn't do anywhere near the amount of revisions as 1 but I would need the DVDs for comparison.

Any update on the release date for Hellsing Ultimate Volumes 5-7 on DVD in the U.S.?

Besides just "2011".

Isn't Rondo Robe part of Geneon (or whatever is called these days)? I did not catch any cretdits for the actual studio that does the animation, though.

PS: Hilarious Kouta@HotD cross-over with Alucard
PS2 (and off-topic): So the HotD OAD is a b**ch episode

Start reading this thread from post #586 onwards. It should give you a good idea of the new changes in the production staff.

Again no less. The circle is now complete.

Gonzo should really consider making Alucard their mascot, considering how they respawned after being killed :P
