Well, it looks like next episode will be the "lost arc" from volume 1, where we find out about Mana. It also appears Linally will be in the arc, so it'll be interesting to see how they fit her into the arc when she wasn't even introduced at that point in the manga.

fantastic episode!!

The action and animation was the best so far and the music and voice acting was great. Very emotional at the end. If this series keeps this up i see it getting very popular in the coming year, because it only gets better. Way better. It will certainly reach american shores eventually.

and whats better they are going to include the lost arc from volume 1. This was a very smart idea by whoever because they got to introduce the cool characters first, yet will still be able to fit in allens first meeting with the earl (however, this time he will be a certified exorcist of the black order, unlike the manga). Very smart idea to not waste the manga matierial yet still pull in viewers.

Yay for episode 5. It really showed that Kinda isn't a cold-harted ignorant brat as I first though. He has feelings aswell, hehe

Allens powers are interesteing indeed. He seems to be much stronger than I though..! Go Allen!

I would have liked to see Guzol's real face though...he had it hidden udner a mask all the time and int he end you only saw his mouth and a bit of his nose. Lala's and Guzol's realationship was really cute.

Very poignant episode. I really wish shounen series had more moments like these. It adds value to them in my opinion. Ep05 seals D.Gray-man as a keeper for me.

Episode 05 was one powerful episode.. i had no idea D. Gray-Man in a whole had moments like these. I'll be strongly waiting for anything else like that to happen in the future - and needing a OST release right now wouldn't be so bad. :3

Episode 5 was indeed great and powerful, but from the point of a manga reader, I personally thought that the art direction here was somewhat weak. It felt...conventional while the manga had a fleeting sombre tone using a balance of light constrasting dark within the whole moment when it was reaching it's end... Kinda like the atmosphere wasn't poignant enough. But good episode nevertheless.

yeah. Hopefully the animators will get better at it as the series goes on. There will be episodes where the animation is way better than normal. They always do that.

I was kind of dissapointed that they left out allens subdoing of the doll at the beggining of the episode. She's supposed to throw a piller at him, allen catches it, and hurls it back towards her spiraling and destroying all the other pillars in the room, with nothing left to throw, she calms down and talks.

ahh this ep was a good example of good vs evil and the tragity that comes from it...i loved the emotional outcome and i hope there will be more in laters eps ^_^

Haven't watched eps 5 yet, but God, the more I watch it, the more its boring...must be the Death Note effect

Come on, such a fuss was made around the manga, I honestly thought the story was more original than that...The fighting scenes aren't exciting either.

Eps 2 and 3 are too dark, speaking of the colors : I barely see what's happening. (plus I have bad eyesight ^^")
And that evolved demon is just so plain, screaming every here and there...

Well, I'm usually fond of cocky and arrogant characters, but Kanda just pisses me off : hope Allen will shut that samurai jerk's trap.

I think I will wait the appearance of new characters (the ones in the OP clip) to catch up.

Well its true in the manga the darkness was white and black in a good way. Now it was just dark. But if you turn up the light on your monitor I had no problem seeing what it was.

But episode 5 is really awesome you should watch it. The best in the series.

The next episode will bring depth to Allens character which is great to understand his actions better.

You could say he has a interesting relationship with Linali(or it will develop to that way), but I cant say for 100% its romance. It might just be a very good friendship.
