It was of course very nice to see the lyrics for the OP and ED translated and for the lyrics of Black Holy in Episode 9 translated. |

A preview for Mouretsu Pirates Complete Guide slated for February release [akiba blog]. I am highly interested in the interviews and the extra illustrations :P.
Regarding Marika's father in the novel Spoiler:
In other news, the voice for the Captain is set to play the voice of Miffy The Movie. So we could enjoy that movie first . From small bird to kitten to a rabbit

Just wondering - have there been any term shifts from the sub to the dub? (for example, Subspace to Hyperspace, or anything like that)
EDIT: That guide looks quite interesting. Last edited by Inept Forum User; 2013-01-14 at 11:27. Reason: Trying to ask my question right. |

I just watched the first episode in English dub along with some other key scenes in episode six. The dub is pretty great for the most part, but Chiaki and Ririka needs more work.
The dub is very literal, like they kept most of the original translation from the subs. It's like every line from CR subs was actually voiced. Hell, they even kept the Japanese honorifics like Chiaki-chan and Ririka-san, which I never seen it done in any other show that was dubbed. They pretty much didn't localize the dub at all, and this is why I love Sentai's releases along with them retaining the original Japanese OP and ED unlike Funi who likes to localize and ruin the OP and ED with generic English credits and crappy font choice. |

I've seen a few episodes, and I like the voices, although Misa sounds too alluring and Chiaki sounds a bit... off. She speaks "normally" and not like a "standard anime character". Not that it,s a bad thing, but she sounds monotone at a few parts.

The English voices either are the either wrong pitch or lack...emotion; like they're just reading off the script instead of BEING the characters.
Marika doesn't seem as inquisitive or bubbly as the original, Misa's pitch is way lower for some reason, Chiaki is a robot instead of having a passively annoyed voice, and they replaced the goose stand-in for a real human being with Mami. |

I do agree with your argument on Misa; Chiaki's really hard to judge, because, well, she does talk like that in Japanese (I've check like a dozen times to make sure I wasn't going crazy); I actually like Marika's and Mami's English voices.

Chiaki is normally the stoic voiced character. Except when she's yelling at Marika about the "Chiaki-chan" bit....and when she's playing a Pirate Captain in episode 10. That one would be the one to see. Because that's the episode the actress and go from stoic to Extra Large Ham and get away with it.
