I'm personally going to give Bioware the benefit of the doubt and just blame EA for everything that went wrong with the ending. Even though *coughcough*DragonAgeII*coughcough*...

Spoiler for spoilers:

Oh I fully expected that and even felt that it was entirely appropriate. The problems were the inconsistencies, the sheer laziness and the deus ex machina.

There is no reason. It pretty much doesn't make sense in ANY of the endings. I'm guessing it was developed much earlier in the development process and when they were rushed to finish they changed the ending, but tacked this on anyways because they already had finished and hoped no one would notice or care.

This just triggered a deep memory... Remember Evangelion?

Perhaps the next "DLC"... is a movie deal.

This is exactly what I was thinking when I saw the ending.

LOL CONGRATULATIONS!

Totally. I demand that Bioware patch this with a FREE DLC.

And I didn't even think about what the Normandy was doing until I saw that guy's YouTube video above. I mean, there's no way Joker and the rest of your team would ditch you during the final battle.

I don't think we're asking that much, anyway. In Star Wars, all of our heroes lived, kicked the Emperor's ass, then threw a huge freaking party. I don't see why ME3 couldn't have at least one ending that does the same.

Spoiler for spoiler, but I don't think it much matters at this point...:

Okay, I gotta stop thinking about this. It's just putting me in a bad mood more and more.

I feel you. It's amazing how five minutes can ruin dozens of hours of excellent gameplay and story and years of anticipation.

I'm still not done raging. But the thing is, if they "fix" it with DLC, it won't be the same. What was seen cannot be unseen. Like 2 girls 1 cup. That's how bad the endings were.

I've got to try this sometime...

Edit:

While I have already stated that I'm more or less indifferent to the ending (though it would be nice if it was changed), this particular article raises some very good points about alot of stuff related to it.

Protecting Creative Risk: Why Mass Effect 3's ending should never be changed

The problem with that article is that it assumes the creators are like Mashiro and Tagaki, but in reality every aspect of ME is planned and constructed very similar to how Nanamine constructs his stories. Not to mention they promised a lot things that were not delivered. ME3 is a product first and foremost. Thus customers can demand what they want and if it becomes a big enough deal, then Bioware would be smart to change it.

It's not like there's no precedence for this kind of thing. Stories get retconned for commerical purposes all the time, not because of any kind of 'artistic merit'. Just look at that recent Spiderman reboot where Spiderman makes a deal with the devil to reset the Spiderman universe. There are movies where extra footage is added to (especially endings) in the DVD release where theatrical endings are different than the 'real' ending. Even books get subsequent editions where sometimes major things get changed. Great Expectation also got a happier ending after initial negative reception from the first ending.

So basically, everything comes down to money. If the customers make enough of a fuss to make Bioware think they might actually lose money from this (loss of future sales) then they will probably address the issue somehow.

Edit: Bioware has already 'patched' a novel because of fan reaction to the novel breaking canon:
http://kotaku.com/5882185/bioware-to...-to-fan-uproar

So the possibility is there.

Also, lulz image summarizing everything that's wrong with the ending:

Eh. I was raging at the end of Fallout 3. After Broken Steel, I stopped raging. It's surprising how fast the anger fades when the object of your ire vanishes.

The anti-synthetic argument of the story is so racist that it is insane. The script writer of ME3 might as well be a Renegade, arguing that the only good synthetic is a dead one.

I am not falling for it. People have the right to be synthetic, or be organic, or a mix of both. I will not force any choice on the entire galaxy. I wanted to fight for the freedom of all sentient beings, and that's all I ever needed.

Choice. For all.

Choice, the right to choose. Something Bioware removed.

Gotta admit I have never seen such an uproar after the ending of a game.
