Expectations:

The continuation of last episode's:

Nora:
Lawrence: o_o
Horo:

And of course, some clearance of the "magician".
And some natural enemy-ness between Shepherd and Wolf God. Though since Nora doesn't realize it...

In the end, the website never changed it's mistake... Time to see who was wrong, TV or Website.

Still peaceful, but it seems to be getting dangerous again, because when someone laughs evilly, that can't be a good sign...

TV wins. Website loses.

-Well, Lawrence seems to consider Horo cuter than Nora.
Replying to Horo saying he was attracted to Nora, Lawrence said "You're obviously cuter."
Nora didn't hear that.
Horo wanted to eat her! >_<, probably a joke though...

-"Wolves can be annoying."
*Horo pinches Lawrence*

So Lawrence ends up hiring Nora (just because he wants to see a shepherd in action) and the three travel together.
Though Horo can't takes care of her tail until Nora's asleep.
Lawrence tries to act cool, though Horo just bursts out laughing.

Episode ends with Lawrence meeting an someone he knows, and somewhere else, a evil man appears and laughs... "Fufufu, Hahahaha"

Nora:
-Seems like the townspeople want nothing to do with her...
-Hired by the Church for various benefits
-Became a shepherd after finding that dog of hers
-Before becoming a shepherd, was working and living at some monastery establishment.

Maybe because its late. But while I recognized the voice as familiar, didn't pin it down to Rena until you mentioned it. Though really giant wolf power owns all I think .

Spoiler for Ep9:

Well quite a bit early was Horo being quiet. Thought for a bit that the bell was getting on her nerves. With hearing that good could get annoying after a while.

Anyways does seem like some things are up. Lawrence certainly wasn't getting much in terms of a cheerful welcome. Not sure if its related to him or the armor cargo he's coming into town with. Maybe subs will clear some things up, since I didn't follow too much in this one.

Of course Horo never misses a chance to get drunk .

Was pretty funny when Lawrence was going for a cool moment and then Horo broke into uncontrollable laughter. She just couldn't help herself there and it was entertaining to watch.

Wolf and Spiraling Conspiracy

Lawrence and Horo arrived at Rubenhaigen to sell the armor they got from margin buying.
To get issued a certificate, Lawrence visited a guild he belonged to called Lowen Guild and meets his daisenpai, Jacob, who he hasn't met for a long time.
However, when he mentioned that they were headed toward Lemerio Company to do sales, Jacob's complexions clouds.
To check the details first-hand, Lawrence brings the armor to Lemerio Company, but the company was covered with an air of unrest...

Hello everyone. I am new to this forum. Can anyone tell me when episode 9 will be subbed?
Spice and wolf is an amazing anime. At first I thought that it would be boring with all those economy terms but I was suprized to see that I liked it, and I believe that Horo is responsible for this. She is adorable and smart.

Thanks a lot. I wasn't complaining. It's just I was confused about the date it was supposed to come out in Japan. I had visited a few sites before I found this one, and everyone was mentioning a different airing date. Thanks again Masanori Ota.

I found this episode a bit colorless, but Horo makes it all worthwhile. What a great character, played so well by a great VA. That laughing fit was classic.

And the shepherdess is a strong character, too: Nakahara Mai seems to me to be getting better. I liked her as the paper-wielding elder sister in sola. But she has also played such gentle characters as Nagisa in Clannad and Miina in Onegai Twins.

Actually, even asking that question is against the forum rules (due to the number of posts that would inevitably swarm a thread) and can earn a quick temp-ban. A legal way to ask a question would be "whats been the typical lag time between the airing of an episode and the first sub release?"

So, since you're new - welcome aboard and I strongly suggest reading the rules because the mods enforce them pretty strongly

On topic:
It does seem like the series lost some momentum in this episode ... though the "daily activities" sort of feeling was nice.

Its just hell being a "feminist" doing a "man's job" in the Middle Ages.

Browsing the screencaps.... Lawrence is pretty tall compared with the rest of the population (more of the guys seem a bit stocky and shorter). It really accentuates both Nora and Horo being petite cute little things --- which probably ignites the dark recesses of my moe-detector (damned irrational brain).

Well, I can definitely see some build up to something big...

I find it weird how people are avoiding Nora...perhaps they think she has been practicing witch craft or something

But for now she seems harmless...

Her moe moment reached peak when she wiped her lips on lawrence's jacket.

I post a calendar that shows the time and day of the week each current anime shows in Japan. mahou.org/Showtime does the same. We both say S&W is at 1:30 late Tuesday night in Japan. (Japan time is 14 hours ahead of New York time, so that means 11:30 Tuesday morning in New York.)

Most shows are on different channels in different parts of Japan, but we just give the first showing of the week. BSS is being very quick, getting this show subbed in only a day or two from when it airs. Good job.

Really was quite the thing when Nora went through the town. Know your not popular when people are shutting doors and creating the feel of a ghost town whenever you show up.

Well harmless or not Horo has a few issues with that girl. Her profession in itself is naturally against Horo. Toss in the cheerful converations and reactions by Lawrence and that girl signed her own death warrant. Getting in trouble from being a nice person, what a world they live in .

That really was one heck of a pinch. Have to be careful what is said around Horo .
