Looks like Dandadan is getting an anime adaptation, not too surprising since it was teased before.

Synopsis

After being aggressively rejected, Momo Ayase finds herself sulking when she stumbles across a boy being bullied. Saved by her rash kindness, the occult-obsessed boy attempts to speak to her about supernatural interests he believes they share. Rejecting his claims, Ayase proclaimed that she instead is a believer in ghosts, starting an argument between the two over which is real.

In a bet to determine who is correct, the two decide to separately visit locations associated with both the occult and the supernatural—Ayase visiting the former and the boy visiting the latter. When the two reach their respective places, it turns out that neither was wrong and that both the occult and ghosts do exist.

This marks the beginning of Ayase and the boy's adventure, as they attempt to fix the surreal, supernatural, and occult elements around them to return to a normal life.

This is now widely rumored to be Science Saru, with Yamashiro Fuuga directing. That would be ironic given than Saru post-Yuasa has a growing reputation as a black company.

I’m not that enamored of Science Saru’s body of work since Yuasa left, but at least it’s not MAPPA.

It was reliably leaked months and months ago (like Ao no Hako). This is just the official confirmation.

In theory Yuasa only left as an executive, and he could theoretically direct for them again (technically Inu-Oh would meet that description). But there’s been no indication he has any plans to work with them again, as far as I’ve heard.

What studios are not considered black company nowerdays? KyoAni? Ufotable? I can't remember any other one people did not have complaints regarding working conditions.

Science Saru can probably render the wackiness of the manga properly. No way the art will be anywhere as detailed as the manga though, but which studio could have possibly done that anyway?

I know everyody hates MAPPA now but they are not the first a d probably not the worst offender here. At least their projects don't look like s***t. Some studious overwork the staff and the results are still bad.

They aren’t the first but based on what’s knowable from the outside, they’re almost certainly the current worst.

As to production quality, with extremely rare exceptions (like Dance Dance Danseur) even their non-cratered works seem to have a soulless, antiseptic quality to them.
