I'm pretty pleased about this; as I've mentioned before, I think the story could benefit plenty from rewrites to make the overarching story more streamlined. These "new developments" coupled with the liberal approach from Tanaka, taken optimistically, could be addressing the lesser parts of the story.

Spoiler for and:

It doesn't quite change the fact that Rewrite is still deeply flawed, but this can allow more of the good parts (of which there are plenty) in the story to be brought out.

The anime will feature a 6th route that is not part of the original game according to this tweet earlier today.

There seems to be confusion about this. Is the tweet saying that the anime will just be common route plus that sixth route?

It mentions along the line that there will be an additional route that's not part of the original game but will feature a character that fans may be familiar with.

According to some people at the KSL live today, the OP song will be Philosophyz (slightly modified)

Sasayaka na Hajimari (the Harvest Festa ED song) is going to be the ED theme song for the anime.

Although somewhat related, but there has been confirmation that the Rewrite visual novel has been licensed for English release.

Also, has anyone noticed the Aniplex logo in the Rewrite website? Do you guys think that Aniplex USA will license the Rewrite anime?

Who cares if they'll 99% will use the same fan-translation with minimal changes. Unless they plan to license the new version (one with Harvest festa and routes remade by Tanaka himself for more consistency).

From what I recall, they are licensing the new version, Rewrite+. I'm hoping this gets an English dub, then again, most visual novels licensed from Japan usually don't get one.

But English dubs are bad generally. And ReWrite has outstanding seiyuu cast. I don't get you.

You assume all English dubs in anime and visual novels to be bad. I think you never played Danganronpa or the recent Ace Attorney games with an English dub.

And the by the way, you are talking to a person that generally watches anime dubbed.

You know. I like some Russian anime dubs (professional not fan). But all my experience with English anime dubs and especially English dubs of Japanese games were really bad.

So let's not discuss the matter.

Not all English dubs are bad. I found the English dubs for Clannad and Angel Beats! (two other Key/Visual Arts titles) to be pretty good (although these dubs come from Sentai Filmworks and it was around the time period where fans were criticizing them for their rushed dubs and quality). I also found the Toradora! English dub to be well done. So there are English dubs that handle melodramas similar to Rewrite pretty well.

Apparently, that's all I have to say here, but that's your opinion and I'll respect you for that. That being, I actually recalled an Aniplex USA tweet mentioning the Rewrite anime. And unsurprisingly enough, the Rewrite anime website has the Aniplex logo in it. Possible licensor for home video release and streaming rights.

And if anyone isn't familiar with Aniplex USA, they are quite infamous known for the expensive prices for their BD/DVD release (And if the title is dubbed, it's even more expensive since anime dubs done in Los Angeles is more expensive than ones done in Texas), but if you don't like Funimation's streaming service, then you'll be happy that Aniplex USA allows streaming sites like Crunchyroll, Daisuki, and Hulu to stream many of their titles.

Same here. I don't want to argue or anything. Just that I'm a bit confused as this is the first time I saw someone wished for VN dub.

I believe there are good English dubs, just that generally studios don't even try to get good VAs for some Japanese games. For example from the recent ones, Ar no Surge English dub was just horrible. And it's quite popular JRPG.

My main concern here is how the anime is going to be formatted. If Rewrite were to get a really good anime adaptation, it should at least 2-cour at best (I had a small discussion with some of the folk at Twitter, they agree that in order to VN anime adaptations to work, it should be at least two-cour). However, if it's formatted as one-cour or a split-cour, expect the anime adaptation to suck balls.

From what they've said so far it looks like much of the anime will be original material... don't be surprised if it's only 12 episodes given that.

I'm just hoping that it gets more people pay attention to Rewrite in general...

I do know that the anime is going to have original material and ending, but from my knowledge with my Key/Visual Arts works, they are known for their characterization and tearjerking drama. I would preferably hope the Rewrite anime is a two-cour series rather than a one-cour. Otherwise, the anime will be completely rushed with little characterization or character development (this is actually one of the main criticisms for Angel Beats! and Charlotte, at least from my knowledge Angel Beats! was originally going to be a two-cour anime series).

Looking forward to the anime improving on the game. I hope they find a way to bring together everything in a better way for Terra.
