Tales of the Abyss generic anime discussion

It seems that not much has been confirmed or settled, but it looks like Abyss has been set to become an anime?

Animenewsnetwork

Moonphase

According to Moonphase, it will be a TV series and the animation studio is Sunrise.

Game website:
http://namco-ch.net/talesoftheabyss/index.php

Game story/setting from Wikipedia:
Quote:
The game takes place on the world of Auldrant, a planet composed of "Fonons" (known as Fonim (フォニム, Fonimu) in the Japanese version): a material energy found in all things. Long ago, a new kind of Fonon was discovered, but great chaos was brought with the finding. By using this newest Seventh Fonons, one could read the future. One such Seventh Fonist, Yulia Jue, put in place a future for the world for thousands of years to come. This prophecy of the future's set path became known as the "Score" and is documented on stone tablets which were scattered throughout the world. The nations of Kimlasca-Lanvaldear and Malkuth have fought over the fragments of these tablets for generations, each uncovering them and hoping to discover the future before the other.

As the game commences, the year is ND 2017. Luke fon Fabre, the son of Duke Fabre of the Kimlasca Kingdom, is 17 years old. He is the Light of the Sacred Flame who is destined to bring prosperity to Kimlasca. But since being kidnapped seven years ago by the Malkuth empire, he has been kept confined to the Fabre family mansion. The shock of the kidnapping erased all of Luke's memories prior to the event. But one fateful day, a mysterious woman breaks into the mansion and sets off a chain of events that will change the world forever...

Mah, if it is a TV series, I'd be happy. Never played the game either. Pity Symphonia didn't get the TV series treatment though.

I didn't realize Tales of the Abyss was that popular (then again, playing the game in English first does ruin some moments. Thank God for undubs.). Well, hope it does good. If Abyss can get an anime, then I wish they make one of Destiny right now...

HELL YES!

That's so awsome, my mind just exploded.
But I'm a bit dissapointed that sunrise will animate this, I hoped for Studio IG (they did the scenes for the game)

Boo they passed over Legendia (surprise). While I would be happy to see Abyss animated, I'd much rather get a release date for the second half of the Symphonia OVAs.

WHATTTTT O.O

Mine just did...

And what is wrong with sunrise? I do believe they can do a pretty damn good job with this.

Oh my god, I can't wait to see Tear in full animated glory!

They better keep the original voice actors/actresses. After all those drama CDs and whatnot, it would be pretty disappointing if the voices of the characters changed all of a sudden.

Yukana for Tear please. Thanks.

Then there's Luke, Jade... Heck, even little gold-digging Anise should remain the same.

Yukana for Tear is pretty awesome, I don't suppose you can list the other VAs from the drama cds?

Well wiki is a good place to look Though do note that it may not be 100% accurate.

This should be pretty interesting. Too bad Symphonia only got some OVAs while this one got a series. I did enjoy the game though, so happy they decided to make a series with this one. Will enjoy following this one to the end.

I watched my friend play the beginning of the game back in March. This looks cool! I wanna see it! Will it come out in maybe 2009? I mean, Sunrise is working on Code Geass and the next season of Gundam 00 is being worked on.

I also rather see I.G do this. They always do a fantastic job on the game intro's http://youtube.com/watch?v=fz0Oqja_L-k <-Vesperia intro

Although I have to admit, Sunrise sounds good as well.

Lol, you whores only thinks of Tear. Though she *is* pleasing to the eyes. Seriously, most of the game fans would thought that Tales of the Abyss was made for Jade Curtiss, that uber sarcasstic and hillarious attitude.

I played the game around a year ago or so and that game rocked though it bombed in the states. Can't wait to see Jade animated and,

Dude, I don't know wtf are you smoking right now but Abyss had one of the best dubs in RPG history. Playing it first in English won't ruin the momments, but for gameplay, yes, the Super Arts additions did come extremely buggy in the US version.

oh, and Jade Curtiss still owns you.
