I thought for sure I'd hate it but the setting is surprisingly interesting. The "hero" of the otome setup is pretty disgusting so I'm looking forward to the bad ending the protagonist will arrange for her.

But it's funny you just realized this. Didn't you see that most of the novels here are reincarnation/teleportation? Though despite having the same initial settings, many has grown unique enough to escape the cliche fest, so just being an isekai stuff is no longer cliche.

Well just 10 years ago people said the same thing about Highschool Setting. Why highschool again!? Highschool of Superpowers, Highschool Harem, Highschool blabla...

In actually the setting being in Modern Highschool or being in Another World are on the similar situation. Just the initial setting. The progress from then on is what's important.

But Another World/Isekai gives more freedom than Modern Highschool setting, that is, wait for it... the possibility of snusnu. So that's the answer. Snusnu.

You seem well and familiar with Syosetsu, see if you can find something that has all the generic fantasy cliches, but forgoes isekai entirely. Hell, I'd be interested in a story where the antagonist is the one who got isekai'd, you know as a plot twist or something.
