Ur favorite PC games from the 1990-1999 period

For some of u, like me, that enjoys playing pc games and have done so for years, i would like to ask: Whats ur favorite PC game from 90's

Ill start by sharing mine:

1997 : Jagged Alliance 2 - A combat strategy game that has captivated me for many years. I can not even mention how many times i played this game and still do till this day

1998 : Fallout 2 A post apocaleptic rpg game that has a very dark nature and feel to it. The atmosphere in this game is superb and i really enjoy the freedom of play

1999 : Age of Empires 2 A empire building game that is awsome over the LAN or as singleplayer

Cheers

The Longest Journey, By Funcom. It's almost unfair though, as it came out in 1999, and the 90s saw a huge difference in games from the early 90s to late 90s. Possibly the biggest shift in a decade ever?

April Ryan, to this day, is still one of the best female video game protagonists ever, even if she gets overshadowed because so few people actually played this game when it was released.

I've pretty much given up hope that we'll ever see a resolution to her story, despite Ragnar promising that even if he has to simply tell us how it all ends on his blog, we'll find closure eventually.

Now, the computer game that I spent the most time on in the 90s was a MUD called Medievia. I spent over 5k real life hours on that game in the mid to late 90s. While I already knew how to type, I credit MUDs with teaching me to type really, really, really fast.

My biggest guilty pleasure in the 90s were the Leisure Suit Larry games.

That age of games is the reason why I became a hardcore gamer.

Dune 2 (1992)
Wolfenstein 3D (1992)
Mortal Kombat 2 (1993)
Doom 2 (1994)
Transport Tycoon (1994)
Warcraft: Orcs & Humans (1995)
Fallout 2 (1998)
Unreal (1998)

Browsing the wiki pages for release dates, I just realized how huge of a deal 1999-2001 was for the gaming industry. I had to make a specific category for '99 itself:
C&C: Tiberian Sun
Drakan: Order of the Flame
Dungeon Keeper 2
Planescape Torment
Quake 3 Arena
Unreal Tournament

I was only born in 92, so I didn't play as much back then. But I'd say my favorite was definitely HL1, fucking game blew my mind. For the time it was incredible what kind of possibilities you had, the AI was pretty good as well. The OST/Plot were awesome too. Not to forget all the glorious mods this game gave us

I wasn't that huge into PC gaming, apart from that I only played minor stuff like Worms, which was also great fun with a friend. I preferred consoles

Master of Orion 2 from '96. In general I am not a fan of "4X" style strategy games but there was something about this one that kept me totally addicted to it. A very simple system on the surface with lots of depth possible based on your choices. I will never forgive whoever was responsible for killing the series with the third installment, which took away literally everything that made 2 great.

I played so many games, but the best that come to mind off the top of head from back then are...

Commander Keen (1990)
Lemmings (1991)
Dune 2 (1992)
Wolfenstein (1992)
Transport Tycoon (1994)
Earthworm Jim (1994) (still remember that damn jingle)
Mechwarrior 2 (1995) (loved me Ghost Bear)
Red Alert (1996)
Imperium Galactica 2 (1997)
Baldur's Gate (1998)
Thief (1998)
Half Life (1998)
Homeworld (damn thing made me tear up) (1999)
Everquest (1999)

There were others but they were console games, like Goldeneye or California Games and Q-Bert, or were out before 1990, like Leisure Suit Larry. But those are the ones I remember off the top of my head.

^ OOH! Me too! MUD's had me typing at 70-110WPM .. I didn't play Medievia though.. I played TSR, Midnight Sun and RealmsMUD .. I even ended up with a heroic level character on TSR and had "god bestowed" weapons.. It was good fun!

Oh boy, what nostalgia..

Civilization 2
Baldur's Gate

I played lots of demos in that stretch, there were even sites dedicated to them only. For now i only know three games that haven't been mentioned yet that i enjoyed.

Theme Hospital
Dark Colony
Sim Earth (mostly in my free time in school)

Hell yes, best prize ever to come out of a cereal box. Never in a million years would have thought a silly game designed as a cereal promo would end up being a legitimately fun Doom clone.

As far as I can remember, the first PC game I played was Chips Challange, and I have to say that Solitaire is even currently a favorite of mine lol. Discounting windows and small games such as those, Age of Empires 2 was the first game I played, and I see this is the only title listed in this thread so far, the rest I only ever heard about.

I'm not sure of release date, but I think I remember spending majority of my early PC-gaming playing Red Alert 2 and Black & White. I'm of the younger generations I guess.
